Day 6 - Be Content But Don't Settle!

Shabbat Shalom,

May the Presence of the Almighty overshadow you this Shabbat - day of rest! May we learn contentment without settling for less than the fullness of God in our lives.

Resting under the Shadow of Heaven,

Scripture: Romans 4: 13-25 & Romans 8:31-39

KEY: Learn Contentment but Don’t Settle for LESS than God’s Destined Plan for your life!

  • Content: satisfied with what one is or has; not wanting more or anything else.

  • Settle (for): to accept or agree to (something that one considers to be less than satisfactory / or fullness). To take up residence, to conclude, or resolve to live in a less than place.

Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. - Php 4:11

In Hope Against Hope He Believed

Romans 4:17-21 (AMP)

17 (as it is written [in Scripture], “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the sight of Him in whom he believed, that is, God who gives life to the dead and calls into being that which does not exist. 18 In hope against hope Abraham believed that he would become a father of many nations, as he had been promised [by God]: “So [numberless] shall your descendants be.” 19 Without becoming weak in faith he considered his own body, now as good as dead [for producing children] since he was about a hundred years old, and [he considered] the deadness of Sarah’s womb. 20 But he did not doubt or waver in unbelief concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and empowered by faith, giving glory to God, 21 being fully convinced that God had the power to do what He had promised.

In the ‘waiting’ we must not settle (be satisfied with) LESS than the PROMISE!  BUT we also must not try and help God Out - it is so easy to get discouraged in the waiting. What did Sarah do before the promise manifested? She gave her maid Hagar to Abraham which caused tremendous problems in the family. (her decision brought contention between brothers (races), the world is still reeling from this contention).

Abraham learned contentment in the ‘waiting’, even though He and Sarah’s physical bodies were past the age of childbearing he BELIEVED God’s Promise. Therefore he acted upon it by being intimate with his wife. His action brought worth the promise.

During the recent GOZ Passover conference I heard Jane Hamon share a vision that so resonated with what the Lord has been speaking to me.

Jane Hamon’s vision (boxing ring, 2 enemies, taunting the crowd, no one responding, Why, because on the back of their robes were written…It’s just life!

We wait (actively pursue the promise) in the Spirit ALL the while vehemently opposing the enemies plans to STOP the fulfillment of the promise. All to often when fulfillment tarriers or life situations like illness, financial setback, relational or others issues come up in our life we tend to say - THAT’S JUST LIFE!

Far to often we tribute problems we are facing on a day-to-day basis as ‘common’ to everyone. We say things like: “It’s just a part of getting older”, “it’s not time yet“, “I’m waiting on God”, “ That’s not my personality, I’m a lover not a fighter”,  “I’m still in process” - yet we’ve been saved for many years, “this is my lot in life” or last but not least “this is my cross to bear.”

We shrug things off as ‘it’s just life’ not realizing that what we perceive as life may actually be demonic forces working against us.

God Is Standing With Us - We Triumph Through it All!

Romans 8:31, 32, 35, 38-9 (TPT)

31 So, what does all this mean? If God has determined to stand with us, tell me, who then could ever stand against us? 32 For God has proved his love by giving us his greatest treasure, the gift of his Son. And since God freely offered him up as the sacrifice for us all, he certainly won’t withhold from us anything else he has to give…35 Who could ever separate us from the endless love of God’s Anointed One? Absolutely no one! For nothing in the universe has the power to diminish his love toward us. Troubles, pressures, and problems are unable to come between us and heaven’s love. What about persecutions, deprivations, dangers, and death threats? No, for they are all impotent to hinder omnipotent love…37 Yet even in the midst of all these things, we triumph over them all, for God has made us to be more than conquerors, and his demonstrated love is our glorious victory over everything. 38 So now I live with the confidence that there is nothing in the universe with the power to separate us from God’s love. I’m convinced that his love will triumph over death, life’s troubles, fallen angels, or dark rulers in the heavens. There is nothing in our present or future circumstances that can weaken his love. 39 There is no power above us or beneath us—no power that could ever be found in the universe that can distance us from God’s passionate love, which is lavished upon us through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One!

In Christ we should be fulfilled, happy, cheerful, glad, unworried, untroubled, at ease, at peace, tranquil, serene.

But DON’T BECOME settled for - satisfied with NOT having our promises fulfilled…THERE IS MORE!

I hear the Spirit of the Lord saying…Cause Me to remember says the Lord! Isaiah 43:26a (JUB)
