Day 38 - Angels Announce the New Era
Jesus, Savior of the World is Born
For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him, all things consist. - Colossians 1:16 -17
Over the last few days, we have been looking at how the angelic host was used to announce the birth of John and Jesus. These men were chosen to usher in a ‘new era’ of spiritual activity on earth. In the Old Testament - God came down upon His servants. But in the ‘new era,’ God would dwell within His servants.
Angels Announce the New Era
A Savior, who is Christ the Lord
In the passage below we see how angels appeared to lowly shepherds to tell of Jesus, Christ the Lord’s birth. The Glory of the Lord was seen, rejoicing was released and a proclamation was made of His mission.
Luke 2:8- 15 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!"So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, "Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us."
In this passage, we see more signs of a ‘new era’: the glory of God manifest, rejoicing and praise break forth and proclamations are released.
In the New Testament God would dwell within His servants as well as come down upon them. ‘God with us - Immanuel’ was a new concept. In the Old Testament God announces that His Son was coming to earth, not just to save the world from sin but to bring a new government (civil & religious) to the earth.
Isaiah 9:2, 6 The people who walked in darkness Have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, Upon them a light has shined. For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Another Sign of a New Era - Government of God manifest upon the earth!
Verse 7 Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
Word of the Lord
As I was with the shepherds in the field so I am with you says the Lord. My angels are sent forth to bring you good tidings, bring you joy and to assist you in becoming all I have destined you to be. Don’t despise their work but walk in anticipation of their help - My angels and My Spirit work hand in hand. Release them to work in your midst, continually ask for My glory to manifest. For this is the day and the hour when a greater glory is being released, an outpouring of My Spirit like the world has never seen is right at the door. Call it forth says the Spirit! Say, to the city, region, to the state and to your family…Behold, Your God! (Isaiah 40:9) Walk circumspectly in these days, walk in anticipation! BELIEVE and you will SEE the greater things in this hour, Says the Almighty!
Open our eyes, Lord!
