Day 42  - Angel Brings Freedom & Death

Day 42  - Angel Brings Freedom & Death

Anything is Possible to those Who Believe!

For  by  Him  all  things  were  created  that  are  in  heaven  and  that  are  on  earth,  visible  and  invisible,  whether  thrones  or  dominions  or  principalities  or  powers.  All  things  were  created  through  Him  and  for  Him.  And  He  is  before  all  things,  and  in  Him  all  things  consist.  -  Colossians  1:16  -17

In Acts 12 we see two angelic encounters; one brings freedom the other death. The chapter opens with Herod the King ‘harassing’ the church for political reasons. He kills James which pleases the Jews (religious folk) so Herod arrests Peter intending to kill him but puts him in prison until after Passover.

A New Era Brings Persecution

Acts 12:1-4 Now about that time Herod the king stretched out his hand to harass some from the church. Then he killed James the brother of John with the sword. And because he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to seize Peter also. Now it was during the Days of Unleavened Bread. So when he had arrested him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four squads of soldiers to keep him, intending to bring him before the people after Passover.

Fervent Prayer Brings Angelic Assistance

vs. 5-8 So Peter was kept in the prison, but prayer for him was being made fervently by the church to God.

More scriptures where earnest prayer was made: Acts 12:12; Is 62:6-7; Mt 18:19; Lk 18:1; 2 Cor 1:11; Eph 6:18-20; 1Th 5:17; Heb 13:3; Jas 5:16

On the very night when Herod was about to bring him forward, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and guards in front of the door were watching over the prison And behold, an angel of the Lord suddenly appeared and a light shone in the cell; and he struck Peter's side and woke him up, saying, "Get up quickly." And his chains fell off his hands. And the angel said to him, "Gird yourself and put on your sandals." And he did so. And he said to him, "Wrap your cloak around you and follow me."

Freedom at the Gate

vs. 10-11 When they had passed the first and second guard, they came to the iron gate that leads into the city, which opened for them by itself; and they went out and went along one street, and immediately the angel departed from him. When Peter came to himself, he said, "Now I know for sure that the Lord has sent forth His angel and rescued me from the hand of Herod and from all that the Jewish people were expecting."

Peter thought he was having a vision but his eyes were opened once the angel had departed. The angel took him to the place he was intended to be. Peter goes to Mary’s house where prayer is being made on his behalf.

O Ye O Little Faith - If You Believe Nothing is Impossible!

How many of us can relate to Ronda and the disciples? We are earnestly praying for a situation believing for a certain outcome but when it comes we can’t belief it is actually happen. Thanks be to God though that often in spite of our skepticism our prayers get answered!

vs. 15-16 They said to her, "You are out of your mind!" But she kept insisting that it was so. They kept saying, "It is his angel."But Peter continued knocking; and when they had opened the door, they saw him and were amazed.

Mark 9:23 What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.”

We, the Ekklesia, the Church of God have been given authority over all the plots, plans, and schemes of the evil one. So, we must rise up in this hour with faith ‘great faith’ in prayer and action to see God’s Kingdom Come and His Will be done here on earth. When we pray, believing, all things are possible for us!

Give God All the Praise - Self Exaltation is Death

Vs. 21-23 On an appointed day Herod, having put on his royal apparel, took his seat on the rostrum and began delivering an address to them. The people kept crying out, "The voice of a god and not of a man!” And immediately an angel of the Lord struck him because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and died

Psalms 115:1 Not to us, O LORD, not to us, But to Your name give glory Because of Your lovingkindness, because of Your truth.

Word of the Lord

As I was with Peter and the early Church so I am with you, says the Lord. As in the days of the early church so it is today; the religious and civil leaders seek to harass My Kingdom people. The enemy’s tactic is to wear down (mentally) the saints and to change time (appointed times) and laws. Great exploits are your portion - the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits. (Dan. 11:32b) In all things be people of thankfulness and walk in humility giving praise where it is due. Not unto us O Lord, not unto us, BUT, to your Name be all glory! So, Arise My Beloved put on strength, walk in faith, call upon My Spirit and work with My angelic host for the time for GREAT THINGS is upon you, says the Lord.
