Day 20 – Do Not Fear

Day 20 – Do Not Fear

Jehovah Shalom is with You!

For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. - Colossians 1:16 -17

Yesterday, we saw the Angel of the Lord appear to Gideon. God wanted to deliver the children of Israel from their oppressive enemies and Gideon was his chosen instrument. In the eyes of the Lord Gideon was a mighty man of valor but in Gideon’s eyes he was the least in his father’s house. Are you grateful God see our potential?

The Angel of the Lord spoke to Gideon’s call as a mighty man of valor NOT to his present state of fear.

16 And the LORD said to him, "Surely I will be with youand you shall defeat the Midianites as one man."

Gideon Prepares an Offering

Gideon was in awe of the thought of an angel visiting him and wanted to receive a sign that it was true. So he decides to present an offering to him, the Lord didn’t rebuke him for asking for verification. Instead upon receiving the offering the Angel of the Lord consumes it by fire; which is a sign that He received Gideon’s offering.

Judges 6:17-19  Then he said to Him, "If now I have found favor in Your sight, then show me a sign that it is You who talk with me. Do not depart from here, I pray, until I come to You and bring out my offering and set it before You." And He said, "I will wait until you come back."  So Gideon went in and prepared a young goat, and unleavened bread from an ephah of flour. The meat he put in a basket, and he put the broth in a pot; and he brought them out to Him under the terebinth tree and presented them.

 Offering Consumed by Fire

Once again we see the angel conversing with Gideon, giving him explicit instructions. Gideon does exactly what was told him and the offering was received afterwards the angel departs.

Judges 6:20-21  The Angel of God said to him, "Take the meat and the unleavened bread and lay them on this rock, and pour out the broth." And he did so. Then the Angel of the LORD put out the end of the staff that was in His hand, and touched the meat and the unleavened bread; and fire rose out of the rock and consumed the meat and the unleavened bread. And the Angel of the LORD departed out of his sight.

Gideon Realizes He has seen the Lord Face to Face

Gideon’s eyes were opened to the reality that the Angel of the Lord had visited him – he had seen the Lord face to face. Praise God we too can see God face to face. Our eyes can be opened to spiritual revelation and we now have access to the Throne of God.

Judges 6:22-24  Now Gideon perceived that He was the Angel of the LORD. So Gideon said, "Alas, O Lord GOD! For I have seen the Angel of the LORD face to face." Then the LORD said to him, "Peace be with you; do not fear, you shall not die." So Gideon built an altar there to the LORD, and called it The-LORD-Is-Peace. To this day it is still in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.

Builds an Altar and calls it Jehovah Shalom

Most know that the Hebrew word shalom is understood around the world to mean "peace." However, "peace" is only one small part of the meaning. "Shalom" is used to both greet people and to bid them farewell, and it means much more than "peace, hello or goodbye"....

Hebrew words go beyond their spoken pronunciation. Each Hebrew word conveys feeling, intent and emotion. Shalom is more then just simply peace; it is a complete peace. It is a feeling of contentment, completeness, wholeness, well being and harmony.

Jehovah Shalom

  • Strong’s 7965 Shalom means completeness, wholeness, health, peace, welfare, safety soundness, tranquility, prosperity, perfectness, fullness, rest, harmony, the absence of agitation or discord. Shalom comes from the root verb shalom meaning to be complete, perfect and full. In modern Hebrew the obviously related word Shelem means to pay for, and Shulam means to be fully paid

Word of the Lord

Face to face that’s My invitation says the Lord. I long to commune with you, to share My heart and thoughts with you. Yes, My ways are higher than yours and My thoughts greater but I choose to reveal them to you; God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. (I Cor.2:10) My Shalom is yours; in Me is completeness, wholeness, health, prosperity, soundness of mind. All things that pertain to life – everything you could possibly ever need I paid with My Blood I freely give it all to you! So, receive My Shalom, receive the heavenly exchange I have provided. Live in peace and prosperity and give it away to others for as you go release My Shalom to everyone you meet.
