Day 17 – Blessing or Weeping

Dear Obedient Ones,

This morning the Lord placed the song Amazing Grace on my heart. As I began to sing I added new words; Amazing Grace how sweet the sound, that saved someone like me; I once was bound but now I'm free, I once was sick but now I'm healed, I once was filled with disparity but NOW I've filled with Hope and Peace.

Once I realized what our passage was for today, I knew what the Lord was saying...WHEN we stray from God's destined path, or get entangled in sin God's Amazing GRACE is extended to us and in that GRACE we find deliverance, freedom, healing everything we need for life and godliness. ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS ACCESS HIS GRACE!

Day 17 – Blessing or Weeping

You CHOOSE - Obedience Brings Victory!

For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. - Colossians 1:16 -17

The next occurrence of the Angel of the Lord appears in scripture is Judges 2. The Angel of the Lord is dealing with the children of God disobedience to drive out their enemies.

Judges 2:1-5 Then the Angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said: "I led you up from Egypt and brought you to the land of which I swore to your fathers; and I said, 'I will never break My covenant with you. And you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall tear down their altars.' But you have not obeyed My voice. Why have you done this? Therefore I also said, 'I will not drive them out before you; but they shall be thorns in your side, and their gods shall be a snare to you.' So it was, when the Angel of the LORD spoke these words to all the children of Israel that the people lifted up their voices and wept. Then they called the name of that place Bochim; and they sacrificed there to the LORD.

Gilgal was the place reproach of the past was rolled away, a place of blessing. The children of Israel held their first Passover in Canaan at Gilgal. The Lord God had given very specific instructions to drive out the inhabitants in the land and make no covenant with them. BUT they disobeyed and it caused the Lord to come down to earth and deal with their disobedience.

Believers Bible Commentary says of Judges 2:1-10

2:1-5   The Angel of the Lord (the Lord Jesus) rebuked the people at Bochim (weepers) for their disobedience. Verse 1 says that He came up from Gilgal (the place of blessing) to Bochim (the place of weeping). Israel had gone from the place of victory to the place of mourning. They had failed to drive out the Canaanites and to destroy their idolatrous altars. Therefore the Lord would refuse to drive . . . out . . . the inhabitants of the land, but would instead allow them to harass the Israelites. Verses 1-5 thus give the underlying reason for the oppression which followed. No wonder the people . . . wept and called the . . . place Bochim!

2:6-10   Verses 6-10 review the close of Joshua's life and the generation that outlived him. In Deuteronomy 6 the Lord gave some specific commands to His people. Failure to obey them led to the sad state of affairs described in verse 10, where a lack of spiritual leadership is seen to result in a corresponding lack of obedience on the part of God's people. The previous generation had not taught their children to fear the LORD and to keep His commandments. The neglect of the fathers led to the apostasy of their sons.

Word of the Lord

My Beloved ones choose Gilgal, the place of blessing and victory. When you choose not to fully obey My commands you find yourself in Bochim, a place of weeping and defeat. Choose Life! Choose to walk in my ways! Choose to drive out the ‘ites’ in your heart and land. Obedience brings My Presence - Watch Me manifest in your midst as you listen and obey My voice says the Lord.

Open our eyes, Lord!

Open my eyes so I can see what you show me of your miracle-wonders. - Psalms 119:18 (MSG)

What does the Bible say?

Read: Judges 2

Action: This is a month to reflect, to look back. Take time to review your last season; what did God ask of you? Repent for any place you didn’t obey. Ask Holy Spirit how you can get back on track with God’s directives for your life.

Decree: Obedience to God’s Word brings blessings, victory and angelic assistance. I choose LIFE! I choose obedience and I choose VICTORY!
