Revival Quote: “Any true revival can be proven by the fact that it changed the moral climate of an area or nation.” - Leonard Ravenhill

“There are different kinds of fire; there is false fire. No one knows this better than we do, but we are not such fools as to refuse good bank notes because there are false ones in circulation; and although we see here and there manifestations of what appears to us to be nothing more than mere earthly fire, we none the less prize and value, and seek for the genuine fire which comes from the altar of the Lord.” - General William Booth

FIRE – Purifying, Refining, Presence & Power

Fire leads to two things: destruction and/or purification. You’ll see in Scripture that the same is true of the Holy Spirit, for He brings both destruction and purification in the believer’s life – destruction of worldly flesh and purification of the soul.

In the Bible, fire is often used to describe the power and presence of God. It was a pillar of fire by night that led the nation of Israel in the wilderness. God called to Moses from a burning bush. Fire consumed the animal sacrifices before the Lord. Again, it may be easy to state that fire is just representative of God, but the Bible also has direct connections between fire and the Holy Spirit. [See Isaiah 4:4-5, Isaiah 6:6-7, 1 Kings 18:37-39, Matthew 3:11, Acts 2:3-4]

Rend the Heavens

Isaiah 64:1-2 Oh, that You would rend the heavens! That You would come down! That the mountains might shake at Your presence—As fire burns brushwood, As fire causes water to boil—To make Your name known to Your adversaries, That the nations may tremble at Your presence!

  • Rend H7167 qâra‛ A primitive root; to rend, cut out, surely, tear.

Mark 1:10 AMP And when He (Jesus) came up out of the water, at once he [John] saw the heavens torn open and the [Holy] Spirit like a dove coming down [to enter] into Him. [Jn. 1:32] …KJV he saw the heavens opened

  • Opened (Torn) G4977 schizōto split or sever (literally or figuratively): - break, divide, open, rend, make a rent.

Acts 2:1-12

1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 5And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. 6 And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language.

7 Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, "Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? 8 And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born? 9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.” 12 So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, "Whatever could this mean?"13 Others mocking said, "They are full of new wine."

8 Key Aspects of New Wine

  1. An anointing for what Holy Spirit is doing in this new era.

  2. Speaks of renewed love and intimacy with the Godhead.

  3. Past season of trails (being pressed) is giving way to new JOY!

  4. New Wine is associated with harvest (Deut. 11:14)

  5. New Wine brings celebration, blessing and bounty. (Deut 7:12-13; Psalm 104:15; Jeremiah 31;12; 48:33)

  6. New Wineskin is needed to hold the new wine.

  7. New Wine is associated with the ‘promised land’ God has for us. (Deut 33:28 NIV)

  8. New Wine associated with miraculous - Jesus turned water into wine. ((John 2:10)

ACTION

28 It will come about after this That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and daughters will prophesy, Your old men will dream dreams, Your young men will see visions. 29 "Even on the male and female servants I will pour out My Spirit in those days. - Joel 2:28-29

OH, THAT You would rend the heavens and that You would come down, that the mountains might quake and flow down at Your presence--As when fire kindles the brushwood and the fire causes the waters to boil--to make Your name known to Your adversaries, that the nations may tremble at Your presence! - Isaiah 64:1-2

Day 49 - River / Symbols of the Holy Spirit Pt. 7

Shabbat Beloved of God,

It's the last day of the Feat of Weeks (day 49); tomorrow is Feast of Shavuot / Pentecost. I woke up this morning with the Holy Spirit asking a question; "How deep do you want to go"? So, how deep do you want to go?

River - Gladness, Joy, Refreshing, Healing, Provision

The Lord wants people to get in touch with who He is, and that takes people who will let the rivers of living water be awakened in them and then gush out of their lives. So the Holy Spirit is manifest in rivers. The work of the Spirit is often compared to taking what was once desert and turning it into fertile land, with water / rivers being the key for that transformation.

The River of God

From Genesis to Revelation we see the river of God flowing. Jesus is the source of this river.

In the Garden: Genesis 2:10-14

10 Now a river flowed out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it divided and became four rivers. 11 The name of the first is Pishon; it flows around the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold. 12 The gold of that land is good; the bdellium and the onyx stone are there. 13 The name of the second river is Gihon; it flows around the whole land of Cush. 14 The name of the third river is Hiddekel; it is the one which goes east of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates.15 Then the LORD God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it.

    • Pishon = “increase”

    • Gihon = “bursting forth”

    • Hiddekel (Tigris) = “rapid”

    • Euphrates = “fruitfulness”

River whose streams make glad the city of God - Psalms 46: 4-5

4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, The holy dwelling places of the Most High. 5God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.

River of Delights: Psalms 36:7-9

How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! And the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. 8 They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house; And You give them to drink of the river of Your delights 9 For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light.

    • Fountain = spring, fountain, of source of life, joy, purification

Well of Living Water: John 4:7-14, (Jer 2:13, Jer 17:12-13 - broken cisterns)

10 Jesus answered and said to her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” 11 The woman said to Him, "Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? 12 Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?” 13 Jesus answered and said to her, "Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again,14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.

Jeremiah 2:13 For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, The fountain of living waters, To hew for themselves cisterns, Broken cisterns (well) That can hold no water.

Jeremiah 7:12-13 12 A glorious throne on high from the beginning Is the place of our sanctuary. 13 O LORD, the hope of Israel, All who forsake You will be put to shame. Those who turn away on earth will be written down, Because they have forsaken the fountain of living water, even the LORD.

Spring Up O’ Well: Num 21:16-17

16 From there they continued to Beer, that is the well where the LORD said to Moses, "Assemble the people, that I may give them water.” 17 Then Israel sang this song: "Spring up, O well! Sing to it!

    • Beer = “well” an oasis rest in desert during the Exodus

Springs of Living Water: John 7:37-39

37 Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. 38 "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’" 39 But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

River Flows from the Throne ~ Wherever the River Goes, it brings LIFE

Ezekiel 47:1-12 [See also Joel 3:18, Zec. 14:8, Rev. 22:1]

The Hand of the Lord was upon Ezekiel and He took me back to the door of the temple…water flowing from under the threshold of the temple…He brought me out by way of the north gate and led me around on the outside to the outer gateway that faces east; and there was water, running out on the right side…when the man went out to the east with the line in his hand, he measured:

How Deep Do You Want To Go?

    • the water came up to my ankles

    • water came up to my knees

    • the water came up to my waist

    • and it was a river that I could not cross; for the water was too deep, water in which one must swim, a river that could not be crossed.

Wherever the River Goes Healing Springs Forth

6 He said to me, "Son of man, have you seen this?" Then he brought me and returned me to the bank of the river. 7 When I returned, there, along the bank of the river, were very many trees on one side and the other. 8 Then he said to me: "This water flows toward the eastern region, goes down into the valley, and enters the sea. When it reaches the sea, its waters are healed.

Harvest Comes Forth From the River

9 And it shall be that every living thing that moves, wherever the rivers go, will live. There will be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters go there; for they will be healed, and everything will live wherever the river goes.  10 It shall be that fishermen will stand by it from En Gedi to En Eglaim; they will be places for spreading their netsTheir fish will be of the same kinds as the fish of the Great Sea, exceedingly many. 11 But its swamps and marshes will not be healed; they will be given over to salt.

Healing ~ Provision ~ Fruitfulness Comes From the River

12 Along the bank of the river, on this side and that, will grow all kinds of trees used for food; their leaves will not wither, and their fruit will not fail. They will bear fruit every monthbecause their water flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for medicine."

River of the Water of Life: Rev. 22:1-6

Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, 2 in the middle of its street. On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations

The Spirit and the bride say, "Come." And let the one who hears say, "Come." And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost. (Rev 22:17)

God has always had a river and He always will.  The Lord Himself is the Source of that River.

The Bible begins and ends in Garden (Paradise)  where the River of God flows. Sin interrupted the flow of that River to man in the pages between Gen 2 and Rev 22. Likewise, sin interrupts the flow of the River of God in our lives. When we forsake the Lord, we choose for ourselves cracked cisterns that hold no water.

The Lord, the Spirit is calling us to go deeper, to be completely filled, saturated in His River. This River brings joy, peace, and life wherever it flows. Let the well of living water spring up from you and water those around you!

Holy Spirit Workings in Mark,

Chapter 16

The Great Commission ~ Individuals Saved, Healed & Delivered

14 Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. 15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” 19 So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And they went out and preached everywherethe Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.

The Great Commission ~ Disciple Nations

Matthew 28:18-20  18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

Rivers are channels or conduits to places where the refreshing of water is needed. The Holy Spirit is manifest in rivers in order to bring refreshing upon you, but also that the Lord would make you an overflowing tributary of His Holy Spirit fullness, life, and love to others.

Drink From the ROCK 1 Corinthians 10:1-4

1 For I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that our fathers were all under the cloud and all passed through the sea; 2 and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3 and all ate the same spiritual food; 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was Christ.

Shabbat Shalom,

Devouring is ending in our lives and restoration has COME!  REJOICE in God's goodness!

The Spirit gave me a song on April 30th entitled I will Pour Out My Spirit. Holy Spirit reminded me of it today, it’s a cappella. I pray it blesses you!

RAIN – Refreshing, Cleansing, Satisfaction, Restoration and Harvest

The Holy Spirit is often described in the form of: rain, dew, rivers and springs. Rain has a dual implication. First as refreshing where there has been dryness and barrenness (Joel 2:23-29). Second, as restoration where there has been loss (Is. 28:11-12). The “pouring out” Peter refers to at Pentecost (Acts 2:17) is not an abstract use of the word; it has to do with “latter rain” that brought about the hastening of the harvest and fruitful crops. The Lord will send rain to people that are barren as a promise of hope. See also Deut. 32:2; 2 Chr. 6:27; Ps. 68:8; Is. 32:15, 44:3-4, 55:10-11; Ez. 36:25-27; Hosea 6:3; Zec. 10:1

Many people have been in Joel 1: 4 What the chewing locust left, the swarming locust has eaten; What the swarming locust left, the crawling locust has eaten; And what the crawling locust left, the consuming locust has eaten.

4 Stages of Devouring

  • chewing: to crush, damage, injure, to devour

  • swarming: to be thronged or overrun; by which it becomes barren; sudden disappearance (figuratively), insignificance

  • crawling:a slow pace or rate of progress

  • consuming: to undergo destruction; waste away / exhaust, deplete. squander, dissipate. - the ravager

COMING TO AN END!

FOR the RAIN Has COME ~ The Lord says, I WILL RESTORE!

  • Restore: to bring back to a state of health, soundness, or vigor. Recovery or restoration of things lost.

Joel 2:23-27 23 Be glad then, you children of Zion, And rejoice in the LORD your God; For He has given you the former rain faithfully, And He will cause the rain to come down for you—The former rain, And the latter rain in the first month. 24 The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, And the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil.

25 "So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, The crawling locust, The consuming locust, And the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you. 26 You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, And praise the name of the LORD your God, Who has dealt wondrously with you; And My people shall never be put to shame. 27 Then you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel: I am the LORD your God And there is no other. My people shall never be put to shame.

God’s Word Will Be Accomplished in Your Life

Isaiah 55:10-11 10 For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; 11 So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.

7 Lamps Burning - 7 Fold Spirit of God

The Branch Judged Through Righteousness

Isaiah 11:3-5 3 And He will delight in the fear of the LORD, And He will not judge by what His eyes seeNor make a decision by what His ears hear; 4But with righteousness He will judge the poor, And decide with fairness for the afflicted of the earth; And He will strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, And with the breath of His lips He will slay the wicked. 5Righteousness shall be the belt of His loins, And faithfulness the belt of His waist

  • Judge H8199 shâphaṭ to judge, govern, vindicate, punish; to act as law-giver or judge or governor (of God, man) to rule, govern, judge; to decide controversy (of God, man); to execute judgment.

Jesus tells us in John 7:24 “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment."

  • Appearance G3799 seeing, sight, the outward appearance, look

  • Judge G2919 Properly to distinguish, that is, decide (mentally or judicially); by implication to trycondemnpunish: - avenge, decree, determine, esteem, judge, go to (sue at the) law, ordain, call in question, sentence to, think; to rule, govern.

  • Righteous G1342 righteous, observing divine laws; in a wide sense, upright, righteous, virtuous, keeping the commands of God

By the Spirit

I Corinthians 2:11-17 11For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

13These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. 17 For "WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD THAT HE MAY INSTRUCT HIM?" But we have the mind of Christ.

Holy Spirit Workings in Mark,

Chapter 15

The chapter opens with another immediately…Immediately, in the morning, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council; and they bound Jesus, led Him away, and delivered Him to Pilate. Jesus was continually challenged and accused by the religious leaders of His day throughout the book of Mark. He continually tried to reveal Himself - to cause them to hear and see that His was the Messiah sent from the Father but they refused to receive the ‘new wine’ and become a ‘new wineskin.’ It is no different today religion stills stops people from ‘seeing and hearing’ new things. Religious leaders / people refused to receive ‘new wine’ and become a new wineskin the Spirit can use in this hour.

ACTION

  • Read: Mark 15  - Write down what the Spirit shows you.

  • Ask Holy Spirit to mantle you the 7 fold Spirit of God that you may delight in the fear of the Lord and judge in righteousness.

  • Cry Out for God’s Presence - for RAIN of the Spirit - to invade your life, church, city and this nation!

  • Ask for the Rain of the Spirit to bring RESTORATION to your house!

  • Ask Holy Spirit to cause your eyes to be open to discern the times.

  • Ask Holy Spirit for a fresh infusion of the reverent fear of the Lord.

  • Ask Holy Spirit to impart in you a greater hunger for righteousness.

  • Agree with Jesus’ prayer in John 17 for oneness / unity among the Body of Christ.

  • Wait in His Presence, get under the spout of heaven; tarry there until you are endured with power from on High.

7 O God, when You went forth before Your people, when You marched through the wilderness. 8 The earth trembled, the heavens also poured down [rain] at the presence of God; Sinai quaked at the presence of God, the God of Israel. 9 You, O God, did send a plentiful rain; You did restore and confirm Your heritage when it languished and was weary. 10 Your flock found a dwelling place in it; You, O God, in Your goodness did provide for the poor and needy. - Psalms 68:7-10

Day 47 - New Wine / Symbols of the Holy Spirit Pt. 5

Beloved,

It's time for 'new wine' but in order to hold the fullness of the Spirit we need to become a new wineskin. The last pairing of the 7 Fold Spirit of God is The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.

WINE – Joy, Uninhibitedness

Though there are fewer symbolic references to the Spirit as wine, it is of note that on the day of Pentecost, those in the upper room were accused of being drunk on “new wine.” A close analogy is also given when Paul instructs to cease being drunk with wine, but rather filled with the Spirit. Wine was part of the drink offering, symbolizing being poured out in service. It was part of Melchizedek's blessing on Abraham, and 2,000 years later, Jesus uses it in the  Passover as the blood of the New Covenant. Jesus describes the new work of God, conveyed by the ministry of the Spirit, as new wine coming into new vessels. Wine represents the joy, prosperity, and boldness brought about by the Holy Spirit [See Matthew 9:17, Mark 2:22, Luke 5:37-38, Acts 2:12-13, Ephesians 5:18]

New Wine

18 Then the LORD will be zealous for His land And will have pity on His people. 19 The LORD will answer and say to His people, "Behold, I am going to send you grainnew wine and oil, And you will be satisfied in full with them; And I will never again make you a reproach among the nations. - Joel 2:18-19

  • Grain H1715 to multiply, increase

  • New Wine H8492 wine, fresh or new wine, freshly pressed wine

  • Oil H3323 fresh oil, shining (pure) oil. From H6671 ‘to press out’

  • Satisfied H7646 to be satisfied, be sated (to the full) , be fulfilled, be surfeited (an excessive amount of something)

All of these are made available because of Jesus releasing new wine for the new covenant as our Passover.

New Wine Needs New Wineskin

No one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the wine will burst the skins, and the wine is lost and the skins as well; But new wine must be put into new wineskins. - Mark 2:22

  • New G3501 neos “new”, that is, (of persons) youthful, or (of things) fresh; figuratively regenerate

  • Old G3820 antique, that is, not recent, worn out: - old. From G3819 former

David Guzik Commentary says, Jesus’ point was made clear by these examples. You can’t fit His new life into the old forms. Jesus traded fasting for feasting; sackcloth and ashes for a robe of righteousness; a spirit of heaviness for a garment of praise; mourning for joy; law for grace.

i. Through the centuries, old rigid forms could rarely contain the work of the Holy Spirit. Through the generations, God often looks for new wineskins because the old ones won’t stretch any further.

  • New G2537 kainos new as respects form; recently made, fresh, unused, unworn; as respects substance; of a new kind, unprecedented, novel, uncommon, unheard of.

Where there is new wine, there must be a new wineskin; a ‘flexible container’ for the new anointing God has for us. It’s time to ask:

  • What ways, means and methods are now being surpassed?

  • What strategies does God have for us to embrace?

  • What is the Holy Spirit indicating to us in regards to becoming a new wineskin?

7 Lamps Burning - 7 Fold Spirit of God

The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD - Isaiah 11:2

  • Knowledge H1847 knowledge: - cunning, perception, skill ; to discriminate, distinguish, to know, be acquainted with, to make known, declare. From H3045 ‘yada’ to know by seeing, perceive

    • Cunning: The original sense was ‘(possessing) erudition (having or showing great knowledge or skill)’ and had no implication of deceit; the sense ‘deceitfulness’ dates from late Middle English.

  • Fear H3374 awesome or terrifying thing (object causing fear), fear (of God), respect, reverence.

  • Lord H3068  yehôvâh Jehovah = “the existing One”; the proper name of the one true God.

Once again lets glean insight from Paul Keith Davis’ teaching on The Brides End Time Harvest Anointing:  “The Spirit of Knowledge is taken from the Hebrew word "da'ath" and could be defined as spiritually imparted knowledge, skill, awareness, comprehension and discernment that are conveyed as instruction and insight from God's heart and sovereignty.

The Spirit of Reverential Fear is taken from the Hebrew word "yir'ah" meaning awe-inspiring, terrible, and awesome. Reverential Fear in its purest form is birthed out of love. We fear God because we love Him and have a revelatory knowledge of His nature and character. It is a working of the Holy Spirit that produces a reverential fear of God. The Fear of the Lord does not make us afraid of God, but instead catapults our faith into the supernatural realm through a revelation of how great He truly is.

These two spirits functioning in unison constitutes the working of the Holy Spirit that imparts a comprehension from God with ability to discern the hearts of men and diverse situations, resulting in a wholesome and reverential awe of God. Knowledge and reverential fear opens the spiritual realm and enlightens our eyes of understanding to look unto God that produces a healthy and overwhelming reverence for the character of God that promotes intimate relationship and abundant spiritual blessings.”

Fear of the Lord - Secret of the Lord

In Psalm 25:12-14 we see why knowledge is paired with the fear of the Lord.  Who is the man that fears the LORD? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses. His soul will abide in prosperity, And his descendants will inherit the land. The secret of the LORD is with those who fear Him, and He will show them His covenant.

The Amplified Bible says; The secret [of the sweet, satisfying companionship] of the Lord have they who fear (revere and worship) Him, and He will show them His covenant and reveal to them its [deep, inner] meaning. [Jn. 7:17; Jn. 15:15]

  • Secret H5475 sôd council, counsel, assembly; council (of familiar conversation); divan, circle (of familiar friends); secret counsel; familiar converse, intimacy (with God)

Holy Spirit Workings in Mark,

Chapter 14

Once again we see the Jewish leaders conspiring against Jesus, its Passover so they do not want to apprehend Him during the Feast. But of course, this is all the plan of God. Jesus was anointed for burial. He spent Passover with His disciples during the meal He revealed that one would betray Him and all would deny Him before the morning. After supper They came to a place named Gethsemane; and He said to His disciples, "Sit here until I have prayed. He took with Him Peter and James and John, and began to be very distressed and troubled. And He said to them, "My soul is deeply grieved to the point of death; remain here and keep watch.” Unfortunately, they could not watch with Him - three times He returns to find them sleeping. Jesus was betrayed by Judas, They led Jesus away to the high priest; and all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes gathered together. All the disciples flee and Peter denies Jesus three times just as Jesus foretold but we see him weeping in repentance.

Day 46 - Symbols of the Holy Spirit Pt. 4

Dear Tarrying Ones,

I want to encourage you to listen to the recording; Holy Spirit came upon me and released an encouraging word. I prophesied to the dry bones and I released El Gibbor, the Mighty God over you and your families.

I'm still battling a cold so my voice is pretty raspy. Holy Spirit tears were flowing too so sometimes it might be hard to understand me but HIS Heart is so for you!

I bless you, tarrying with you!

Symbol of the Holy Spirit

WIND/BREATH – Invisible Presence, Power, Breath of Life

This symbol is fitting because “rauch” (Hebrew) and “pneuma” (Greek) both mean wind or breath. Both words are used for the Spirit throughout the Bible. On the day of Pentecost, it was the sound of a mighty rushing wind

as the Spirit filled the upper room and some theologians believe that the Spirit moving upon the face of the waters was akin to wind. It was the breath of God that brought Adam to life and Jesus breathing upon the disciples that allowed them to receive the Holy Spirit. [See Genesis 2:7, Ezekiel 37:9, John 3:8, John 20:22, Acts 2:2]

Blow Oh Wind of God - Prophesy to the Breath!

Ezekiel 37:1-14

1The hand of the LORD was upon me, and He brought me out by the Spirit of the LORD and set me down in the middle of the valley; and it was full of bones. 2 He caused me to pass among them round about, and behold, there were very many on the surface of the valley; and lo, they were very dry. 3He said to me, "Son of man, can these bones live?" And I answered, "O Lord GOD, You know. 4Again He said to me, "Prophesy over these bones and say to them, 'O dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.’ 5 "Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones, 'Behold, I will cause breath to enter you that you may come to life. 6 I will put sinews on you, make flesh grow back on youcover you with skin and put breath in you that you may come alive; and you will know that I am the LORD. 7 So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold, a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to its bone. 8 And I looked, and behold, sinews were on them, and flesh grew and skin covered them; but there was no breath in them. 9 Then He said to me, "Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they come to life. 10 So I prophesied as He commanded meand the breath came into them, and they came to life and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army. 11 Then He said to me, "Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel; behold, they say, 'Our bones are dried up and our hope has perished. We are completely cut off. 12 Therefore prophesy and say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD, "Behold, I will open your graves and cause you to come up out of your graves, My people; and I will bring you into the land of Israel. 13 Then you will know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves and caused you to come up out of your graves, My people. 14 I will put My Spirit within you and you will come to life, and I will place you on your own land. Then you will know that I, the LORD, have spoken and done it," declares the LORD.

Prophesy to the dry bones, call forth the prodigals, your sons and daughters - - call them home, back to the Father’s House, back to your home. Prophesy to the Breath, Prophesy to the 4 Winds (also represents the angelic host - release the angels) breath Holy Spirit upon the slain in the Church, breath Holy Spirit the lost, breath Holy Spirit the hurting, breath Holy Spirit the destitute - Breath, Oh Breath of God! Prophesy life, prophesy HOPE. Release the Spirit of God upon those you are crying out to be touched!

7 Lamps Burning - 7 Fold Spirit of God

The spirit of counsel and might - Isaiah 11:2

  • Counsel H6098 counsel, advice, consultation, designs, plan (s), purpose, scheme (s), strategy also prudence, advisement, counsel ([-lor]).

  • Might H1369 strength, might valor, bravery, mighty deeds (of God), powerful; by implication warrior, victory.

Paul Keith Davis says of counsel and might: “Counsel is defined as advice, plans or admonitions of prudence to provide leadership and proper decision-making to achieve God's plan and purpose. The term can be used to apply to secular or human counsel, but primarily counsel received from the Holy Spirit.

The Hebrew word for counsel is "etsah" and is used numerous times in the Old Testament and translated either counsel, advice, advisement, or purpose. One of the first occurrences of the term is in Exodus 18:19 when Jethro gives counsel to Moses concerning the leadership of Israel.

According to Isaiah 9:6, the Lord Himself is known as the Wonderful Counselor. A counselor is one who gives advice or formulates a plan for the achievement of a specific goal. The Spirit of counsel grants advice from God's throne and provides the perfect plan or strategy to achieve a specific mandate. The Lord does not merely have counsel; He is the Spirit of counsel.

Might is taken from the Hebrew word "gebuwrah" and is defined as power, strength, or force producing valor, victory and mighty deeds. The Spirit of might illustrates and demonstrates the marvelous acts and miraculous powers of the Holy Spirit. Deuteronomy 3:24 affirms this saying, "O Lord GOD, You have begun to show Your servant Your greatness and Your strong hand; for what god is there in Heaven or on earth who can do such works and mighty acts as Yours?"
These two Spirits working in unison function through the Holy Spirit by giving advice or counsel which formulates a plan that demonstrates the mighty acts and miraculous powers of God

- The Bride's End-Time Harvest Anointing, Paul Keith Davis, 2008

Might is the same as H1368 which is gibbôr - powerful; by implication warrior, champion.

Its one of the compound names of God.  El Gibbor has see in Isaiah 9:6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful CounselorMighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

El Gibhor is the description of God as a Mighty Warrior and Champion. He always prevails, has great strength, and authority over all.

Holy Spirit Workings in Mark,

Chapter 13

As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew were questioning Him privately - I sat in this same spot last year with 100 fiery ones. We looked over the graves in the valley and beheld the Temple (Mount). We were there during Feast of Tabernacles, when we arrived there were devote Jewish men with the Torah scroll worshipping God, it was the most amazing sound and sight. We then added our sound of worship, this sound too was glorious!

In this chapter Jesus foretells of the coming destruction of the Temple, which took place on 4 August 70 CE (Tisha B'Av - 9th Day of Av) between 4 or 5 years after He prophesied. He then describes the signs which would take place before His return - Jesus says, “be on guard” and the gospel must first be preached to all the nations. But when they arrest you and deliver you up, do not worry beforehand, or premeditate what you will speak. But whatever is given you in that hour, speak that; for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit

OIL – Fuel, Anointing, Healing

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows. - Psalms 23:5

Oil had multiple purposes in Biblical times, just as it does today. Oil was the fuel for lanterns, thus the source of light. Wounds were healed through the application of oil. Oil was used to pour on people being anointed and commissioned to positions of leadership and spiritual work. The anointing—the oil of Scripture—is directly related to the Holy Spirit’s work in our life (2 Cor. 1:21-22)

The Plumb-line and the Seven Fold Spirit

IT’S TIME TO BUILD THE TEMPLE OF GOD

Zechariah 4, 2, 6-10 2 And he said to me, "What do you see?" So I said, "I am looking, and there is a lampstand of solid gold with a bowl on top of it, and on the stand seven lamps with seven pipes to the seven lamps… 6 So he answered and said to me: This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' Says the LORD of hosts…7 Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone With shouts of "Grace, grace to it!” 8 Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying: 9 "The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple; His hands shall also finish it. Then you will know That the LORD of hosts has sent Me to you. 10 For who has despised the day of small things? For these seven rejoice to see The plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. They are the eyes of the LORD, Which scan to and fro throughout the whole earth.

Zechariah 6:12-13 Then say to him, "Thus says the LORD of hosts, "Behold, a man whose name is Branch, for He will branch out from where He is; and He will build the temple of the LORD. "Yes, it is He who will build the temple of the LORD, and He who will bear the honor and sit and rule on His throne. Thus, He will be a priest on His throne, and the counsel of peace will be between the two offices.

Divine Pairs

The Seven Spirits of God work together in pairs. The spirit of wisdom and the spirit of understanding work in harmony with one another. The spirits of counsel and might work in unison as do the spirits of knowledge and reverential fear of God, all flowing from the manifestation of the Spirit of the Lord.

The gifts of the Spirit are appropriations of the Spirit operated by His will when the need arises. We do not possess the gifts; rather the gifts are manifested according to need. All nine gifts of the Spirit can operate within a believer filled with the Holy Spirit. However, the Seven Spirits of God are measurably greater demonstrations of the Spirit taking the mature and purified believer deep into God's mysteries and power.

The Seven Spirits of God are "mantles" placed upon the believer to operate in full measure. It is a wonderful thing to receive a word of wisdom; but it is altogether greater to walk in the spirit of wisdom. The "mantle" that rested upon Elijah and Elisha was an Old Testament representation of this reality. An examination of the messages and miracles demonstrated in these ministries reveals the functioning of God's sevenfold Spirit. The distinction is that the Spirit descended upon these prophets as the need arose while we are promised an abiding presence that is perpetual.

The Spirit's anointing that came upon these Old Testament prophets rested for a season until God's mandate was complete and then it lifted; in the ministry of the Lord Jesus the Spirit remained, tabernacled in the Son of God. The Bible declares that the Heavens opened and the Holy Spirit descended as the appearance of a dove and remained. This is our promise as well!

The Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding

Jesus, the Branch, walked in the 7-fold Spirit of God. He is perfectly wise in all things. He showed it among us during his earthly ministry, and He shows it now in His ministry towards us in heaven. 1Cor 1:30 says that Jesus became for us wisdom from God. It isn’t just that Jesus has wisdom; He is wisdom! (David Guzik)

Wisdom is related to understanding, so we speak of them as close brothers. God tells us: "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding" (Prov. 4:7). It is good if we have a heart that is searching for wisdom rather than for some kind of gift that might make us popular and famous. Wise men of old sought for it, as a hidden treasure.

The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him, The spirit of wisdom and understanding. - Isaiah 11:2a

  • Wisdom H2451 skill (in war); wisdom (in administration); prudence (in religious affairs); wisdom (ethical and religious)

  • Understanding H998 understanding, discernment

The spirit of wisdom is the supernatural ability of God that comes upon our spirits to see Jesus as He is and receive a spiritual understanding and knowledge of God’s word that enables us to know what to do, when to do it and how to do it in every situation.  It also reveals God’s manifold and unsearchable wisdom and secrets affecting His plans and purposes usually spoken in a mystery. It means a deeper intimacy into the things of God.

Daniel 9:21-23 While I was still speaking in prayer, then the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision previously, came to me in my extreme weariness about the time of the evening offering. He gave me instruction and talked with me and said, "O Daniel, I have now come forth to give you insight with understanding. At the beginning of your supplications the command was issued, and I have come to tell you for you are highly esteemed; so give heed to the message and gain understanding of the vision.

The spirit of revelation/understanding is a comprehension of the things of God providing understanding with the mind giving insight with perception. Wisdom and understanding means the insight into the true nature of things with the ability to discern mode of action with a view to their results.  It is the ability to not only know the things of God but also the application of them practically.

Revelation is the comprehension imparted into our spirits from the Holy Spirit and transmitted into our minds.  It is the voice of God speaking to our spirits and informing our minds of that which God is going to do; the unfolding of hidden secrets to us by the Holy spirit; and the revealing of mysteries and insight into the future. As demonstrated in the life of Daniel, humility and an excellent spirit are vital attributes in the operation of the spirits of wisdom and revelation.

Excerpts Taken from The Bride's End-Time Harvest Anointing by Paul Keith Davis

Holy Spirit Workings in Mark

Chapter 12

In this chapter we see the vinedressers hurting or killing all the representatives sent from the Owner / Father. Finally, killing His son - the Father sent John the Baptist and Jesus to His Vineyard (Israel) but they rejected Him. So, 9 What will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the vine-growers, and will give the vineyard to others. Jesus is still being challenged and tested by the Pharisees, Herodians, Sadducees, and the Scribes - the religious and political rulers of the day. 10 Then they sent to Him some of the Pharisees and the Herodians, to catch Him in His words. The last time was in Mk 3:6 these former enemies come together because of Jesus, but it is because they both oppose Jesus and want to destroy Him.

They challenged Jesus about taxes, resurrection, the great commandment - 28 One of the scribes came and heard them arguing, and recognizing that He had answered them well, asked Him, "What commandment is the foremost of all?”

David Guzik says, The scribes were the “Bible Scholars” of Jesus’ day. They were entrusted with preserving, learning, and teaching the Word of God to the world. These are the men that the people of God should have been able to trust, but Jesus says instead they should beware of the scribes. The scribes represent a complete contrast to the picture of how a disciple should be - as a servant, as a child, as one carrying a cross. Jesus says that we should notice what they do as well as what they say.

The last thing Jesus talks about in this chapter is giving; giving not to be seen, not only out of our abundance but giving from the heart and even when its all we possess. 43 So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; 44 for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.

Day 44 - Symbols of the Holy Spirit Pt. 2

Revival Quote: “Nothing teaches us about the preciousness of the Creator as much as when we learn the emptiness of everything else.”   - Charles Haddon Spurgeon

Immediately coming up out of the water, He (Jesus) saw the heavens opening, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him. - Mark 1:10

DOVE – Gentility, Devotion, Peace, Innocence

One of the most common symbols of the Holy Spirit is a dove. It comes from the story of Jesus’ baptism, when Jesus saw “the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him.” (Mark 1:10) The other three Gospel writers use similar wording to describe the event (see Matthew 3:16, Luke 3:22, and John 1:32).

Doves are known as the “sheep of the bird world” because of their caring and soft disposition. Doves are devoted to their mates, and when domesticated, devotedly return to their owners. It could be said that the dove’s demonstration of gentility and devotion is similar to the Spirit’s attitude toward us.

Interestingly, doves were also used for sacrifice in the tabernacle, often named first before other birds. When the dove is listed as an option for sacrifice, it is usually for those who cannot provide the required larger sacrifice. As Jesus is the “Lamb of God” to symbolize His perfect, ultimate and atoning sacrifice, so the Holy Spirit is the “Dove of God” as a reminder that all – rich, middle class, or poor -- may approach the Almighty God to sacrifice praise, thanksgiving or receive forgiveness of sin.

As the Holy Spirit came and rest upon Jesus, He wants to come and rest upon us as well.

7 Fold Spirit of God

Paul Keith Davis writes in The Bride's End-Time Harvest Anointing; God’s "Sevenfold Spirit" is a wonderful mystery to highlight the functioning of the Lord's Spirit in the earth. It is not in contradiction to the triune nature of God but a perfect and complete expression of His Spirit that demonstrates the fullness of His character and power. The Spirit of the Lord doesn't "have" wisdom and revelation, counsel and might, knowledge and reverential awe; He "IS" all of these.

The Book of Revelation uses the phrase "Seven Spirits of God" in four passages. It is taken from two Greek words:

  • Hepta G2033 = meaning seven or more appropriately sevenfold.

  • Pneuma G4151 = the third person of the triune God, the Holy Spirit, coequal, coeternal with the Father and the Son.

The seven aspects of the Holy Spirit provide a more clear definition of His nature. The Spirit of the Lord is an expression of who He is while wisdom and revelation, counsel and might, and knowledge and the reverential fear of God are what He is.

The Jewish Bible records Revelation 4:5 as follows:

"From the throne came forth lightnings, voices and thunderings; and before the throne were seven flaming torches, which are the sevenfold Spirit of God."

The sevenfold Spirit is a complete representation of His revelation (seven eyes) and power (seven horns) essential to accomplish His plan in the earth. In order for the Church to do the works that He did, fulfilling John 14:12, this same manifestation of the Spirit must also rest upon her! The Lord promised to baptize us in the Holy Spirit and fire; the Seven Spirits (7-fold) of God are manifested in fire.

Isaiah 11:1-3 Then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse, And a branch from his roots will bear fruit. The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him, The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and strength, The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD. And He will delight in the fear of the LORD, And He will not judge by what His eyes see, Nor make a decision by what His ears hear.

Manifestation of the Presence of God as Jehovah.

  • Spirit  H7307 = ruach, breath; air; strength; wind; breeze; spirit; courage.

  • Lord H3068 = yehôvâh “the existing One”, the proper name of the one true God.

  • Rest H5117 = nûach to rest, settle down and remain.

Genesis 1:2—The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.

  • Ruach of Elohym.  Plural name of God associated with creation or as Creator.

Jehovah appears is Genesis 2:4. “The day the Lord God made earth and heaven.”

2 Corinthians 3:17-18—Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, {there} is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

The Spirit of the Lord’s color is said to be RED = Blood of Jesus, love of God, passion, fire, purifying, overcomer, perseverance, war, authority,, warrior.

May Ruach Jehovah come and rest upon you, breath new life into you. May the Spirit of the Lord bring into existence that which you need this very day, causing the dark and formless things in your life to come alive and produce much fruit.

22 And Jesus answered saying to them, "Have faith in God. 23 Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him. 24 Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you. - Mark 11:22-24

Day 43 - Symbols of the Holy Spirit

In the Days of Awakening!
Today begins week 7, next Sunday is Shavuot / Pentecost. This week we will be looking at the symbols of the Holy Spirit and the 7-fold Spirit of God.

Jack Hayford in his article Symbols of the Holy Spirit says, “The Holy Spirit doesn’t seek to be mysterious, but He is the most mysterious of the Godhead. We can read in the Word about the Father, and we can read about the Son who came and walked among us. But Jesus tells us that when the Spirit comes, He will not speak of Himself; that “whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come” (John 16:13 KJV).

The workings of the Holy Spirit are invisible, glorious, and gentle, and within them, He never tells us about Himself. He comes to glorify Jesus—helping us to see Jesus more, to understand Jesus better, to respond to Jesus more obediently, and to love Jesus with a deeper heart of commitment.

So the symbols of the Holy Spirit become essential to our gaining an understanding of what He’s like, not only in an objective way of analyzing truth, but also in the subjective way that He comes to penetrate our lives in ways which the reality of the invisible penetrate the visible. When we talk about the Holy Spirit as rain, for example, the purpose isn’t to think, “Oh, the Holy Spirit is like rain.” The purpose is to get wet.

In each of the following seven ways, the Lord desires to move into our realm. Just as the Holy Spirit manifested for a moment in a dove and lighted upon Jesus, He wants to penetrate you and me with the glory of the invisible God that becomes visible in us—to flood His life into ours that we might then overflow it to others.”

2Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne was standing in heaven, and One sitting on the throne. 3And He who was sitting was like a jasper stone and a sardius in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, like an emerald in appearance. 4 Around the throne were twenty-four thrones; and upon the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white garments, and golden crowns on their heads.  5Out from the throne come flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder. And there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. (Revelation 4:2-5)

THE POWER OF PRAYER - BERNERA

"One of the most outstanding anointings of prayer happened when Donald was in Bernera, a small island off the coast of Lewis. Duncan Campbell was assisting at a communion service; the atmosphere was heavy and the preaching difficult, so he sent to Barvas for some men to come and assist in prayer.

They prayed, but the spiritual bondage persisted, so much so that half-way through the sermon, Duncan stopped preaching. Just then he noticed Donald, visibly moved under a deep burden for souls. He thought, 'This boy is in touch with God, and living nearer to the Savior than I am.' He said, 'Donald, will you lead us in prayer?' The young lad rose to his feet and made reference to the fourth chapter of Revelation which he had been reading that morning. 'Oh God, I seem to be gazing through an open door. I see the Lamb in the midst of the Throne, with the keys of death and hell at His girdle.' He began to sob, then lifting his eyes toward heaven, cried, 'Oh God, there is power, let it loose!' The Spirit of God swept into the building and the heavens were opened. The church resembled a battlefield. On one side many were prostrated over the seats weeping and sighing; on the other side some were affected by throwing their arms up in the air in a rigid posture for an hour. God had come!”

The Works of the Holy Spirit

Holy Spirit Has…

  • Walk in the Spirit - Fruit of (Rom. 8:4; Gal. 5:16-26)

Walk in the Spirit

16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. 17 For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law.

Works of the Flesh

19 The cravings of the self-life are obvious: Sexual immorality, lustful thoughts, pornography,20 chasing after things instead of God,  manipulating others, hatred of those who get in your way, senseless arguments, resentment when others are favored, temper tantrums, angry quarrels, only thinking of yourself, being in love with your own opinions, 21 being envious of the blessings of others, murder, uncontrolled addictions, wild parties, and all other similar behavior. Haven’t I already warned you that those who use their “freedom” for these things will not inherit the kingdom realm of God! (TPT)

Fruit of the Spirit

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Live by the Spirit

25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. 26 So may we never be arrogant, or look down on another, for each of us is an original. We must forsake all jealousy that diminishes the value of others.

  • Gifts of the Spirit (1 Cor. 12:1-11, 9; Heb. 2:4)

7But to each person is given the manifestation of the Ruach for the benefit of all. (TLV) 4-7 God’s various gifts are handed out everywhere; but they all originate in God’s Spirit. God’s various ministries are carried out everywhere; but they all originate in God’s Spirit. God’s various expressions of power are in action everywhere; but God himself is behind it all. Each person is given something to do that shows who God is: Everyone gets in on it, everyone benefits. All kinds of things are handed out by the Spirit, and to all kinds of people! (TMB)

8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues. (KJV)

11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.

We ARE TO BE…

  • Led by Holy Spirit  (Lk. 4:1; Rom. 8:9,14)

Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led around by the Spirit in the wilderness. (Lk. 4:1) For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. (Rom. 8:14)

Things of the God discerned by those in the Spirit (I Cor. 2:9-16)

9 it is written, "THINGS WHICH EYE HAS NOT SEEN AND EAR HAS NOT HEARD, AND which HAVE NOT ENTERED THE HEART OF MAN, ALL THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM.” 10 For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.

    • Revealed G601 to uncover, lay open what has been veiled or covered up disclose, to make known, make manifest, disclose what before was unknown

11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, 13 which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spiritcombining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words

14 But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised.

    • Natural G5591 from G5590 (psyche) ; natural, of the soul or mind: worldly-minded.

15 But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one. 16 For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, THAT HE WILL INSTRUCT HIM? But we have the mind of Christ.

  • Minister in the Spirit (2 Cor 3:5-8)

5 Not that we are fit (qualified and sufficient in ability) of ourselves to form personal judgments or to claim or count anything as coming from us, but our power and ability and sufficiency are from God. 6 [It is He] Who has qualified us [making us to be fit and worthy and sufficient] as ministers and dispensers of a new covenant [of salvation through Christ], not [ministers] of the letter (of legally written code) but of the Spirit; for the code [of the Law] kills, but the [Holy] Spirit makes alive. [Jer 31:31] 7 Now if the dispensation of death engraved in letters on stone [the ministration of the Law], was inaugurated with such glory and splendor that the Israelites were not able to look steadily at the face of Moses because of its brilliance, [a glory] that was to fade and pass away, [Exo 34:29-35] 8 Why should not the dispensation of the Spirit [this spiritual ministry whose task it is to cause men to obtain and be governed by the Holy Spirit] be attended with much greater and more splendid glory? (AMP)

As Jesus Did We too Can Have the Spirit without measure

  • Holy Spirit Given without measure (Jh. 3:34-35)

34 For since He Whom God has sent speaks the words of God [proclaims God's own message], God does not give Him His Spirit sparingly or by measure, but boundless is the gift God makes of His Spirit! [Deu 18:18] 35 The Father loves the Son and has given (entrusted, committed) everything into His hand. [Dan 7:14]

Truly, truly, I say to you, He who believes on Me, the works that I do he shall do also, and greater works than these he shall do, because I go to My Father. (Jn. 14:12)…Jesus said; “IT IS TO YOUR ADVANTAGE” At Pentecost we were endued with the same Holy Spirit and power that Jesus possessed.

Holy Spirit Workings in Mark

Chapter 9

In this chapter we have, Christ’s transfiguration on the mount, Mk 9:1-13. Peter didn’t know what to make of this supernatural event so he suggested them to build three tabernacles / places to worship. BUT the Father made it very clear that Jesus was His Son and ONLY should be worshipped. Jesus casting the devil out of a child, when the disciples could not do it, more prayer / faith / and possible fasting was necessary. Mk 9:14-29. His prediction of his own sufferings and death, Mk 9:30-32.The reproof he gave to his disciples for their carnal ambition, who is greater? Jesus said, If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all. Mk 9:33-37. And to John for rebuking one who cast out devils in Christ’s name, and did not follow with them, Jesus said, if those who cast our demons is not against ME then don’t start them from doing the works of My Spirit. Mk 9:38-41. His discourse with his disciples of the danger of offending one of his little ones, Jesus brings a little child and says, whoever receives such a one, receives me…in other words ‘be as little children’ Mk 9:42; and He warns them of the temptation to sin, remove from our hearts that which causes us to sin. Mk 9:43-50.

We must be salted with fire (Holy Spirit) and become a living sacrifice to God. Salt typifies that which preserves, purifies, and seasons. In eastern lands, it is also a pledge of loyalty, friendship, or faithfulness to a promise also used in covenant making. Fire may mean hell (as in vv. 44, 46, 48) or judgment of any kind, including divine judgment of a believer's works, and self-judgment. Fire can also refers to the Holy Spirit. As His presence in our lives “seasons” us, it purifies, preserves, and adds flavor to our lives, and so it makes our “living sacrifice” acceptable to God.

ACTION

  • Read: Mark 9  - Write down what the Spirit shows you.

  • Ask Holy Spirit to teach you of His acts and His ways.

  • Cry Out for God’s Presence to invade your life, church, city and this nation!

  • Agree with Jesus’ prayer in John 17 for oneness / unity among the Body of Christ.

  • Wait in His Presence, get under the spout of heaven…

49 For everyone shall be salted with fire. 50 Salt is good (beneficial), but if salt has lost its saltness, how will you restore [the saltness to] it? Have salt within yourselves, and be at peace and live in harmony with one another. - Mark 9:49-50

Hebrides Revival Account

You Can’t Get Away From God

“The scripture, 'Wither shall I go from your Spirit, or wither shall I flee from your Presence? took on a very real meaning. One night a man went to the manse in great concern of his soul. He was brought into the study and the minister asked him, 'What happened to you, I have not seen you in any of the services?' 'No,' he replied, 'But, I cant get away from the Spirit.”          - Quote from The Famous Hebrides Revival By Kathie Walters

The Works of the Holy Spirit

Degrees of Infilling

  • At Salvation: Holy Spirit comes to dwell within - to create a family for God. (Rom. 8:11, Gal. 4:6-7; I Jn. 4:13)

But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you (8:11)… 6 Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father! 7Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through GodBy this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.

    • Dwell G3611 oikeo from okios (family) to occupy a house that is, reside.

  • Filled with Holy Spirit (Acts 4:8; Acts 4:31; Eph. 5:18)

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers and elders of the people…And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness.

    • Filled G4130 to “fill” (literally or figuratively [influencesupply]); specifically to fulfill (time); accomplish, furnish.

There are different levels of being filled…WE ARE TO CONTINUE be being filled!

And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit(Eph. 5:18)

    • Filled G4137 Thayer: to make full; to cause to abound, to furnish or supply liberally (I abound, I am liberally supplied); to complete in every way; fill to the brim; carry out, (some undertaking); of matters of duty: to perform, execute; of sayings, promises, prophecies, to bring to pass, ratify, accomplish; to fulfill, i.e. to cause God’s will (as made known in the law) to be obeyed as it should be, and God’s promises (given through the prophets) to receive fulfillment.

These Old Testament passages have a simpler meaning.

  • I am filled with wisdom, understanding, knowledge, all kinds of craftsmanship (Ex. 31:3)

  • Spirit of the LORD—fills with power, justice and courage (Mic.3:8)

  • Full of  Holy Spirit (Lk. 4:1; Acts 6:3,5; 7:55; 11:24)

Therefore, brethren, select from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put in charge of this task…they chose…a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit…But being full of the Holy Spirit, he gazed intently into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.

    • Full G4134  Thayer Definition: full, i.e. filled up (as opposed to empty, full, i.e. complete - lacking nothing, perfect; of the soul, thoroughly permeated (to pass into or through every part of) with.

  • Dwelling of God (Eph. 2:22)

In Him [and in fellowship with one another] you yourselves also are being built up [into this structure] with the rest, to form a fixed abode (dwelling place) of God in (by, through) the Spirit. (AMP)

    • Dwelling  a dwelling place: - habitation. From G2730 Thayer  to dwell, settle; metaphorically divine powers, influences, etc., are said to dwell in his soul, to pervade, prompt, govern it.

  • Holy Spirit can be Tested (Acts 5:9)

Then Peter said to her, "Why is it that you have agreed together to put the Spirit of the Lord to the test (tempt)? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out as well.”

    • Test G3985 to test (objectively), that is, endeavor, scrutinize, entice, discipline: - assay, examine, prove, tempt.

  • Devoid of  - not of the Spirit (Jude 1:19; Is. 30:1)

These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit…Woe to the rebellious children," declares the LORD, "Who execute a plan, but not Mine, And make an alliance, but not of My Spirit, In order to add sin to sin.

    • Devoid G3361 not, (used for qualified negation); not possessing, untouched by, void, or destitute.

    • Negation: the act of denying; a negative statement, idea, concept, doctrine, a contradiction, refutation, or rebuttal.

    • Worldly-minded G5591 natural, of the soul or mind

Holy Spirit Workings in Mark

Chapter 8

This chapter opens with Jesus feeding 4000 people who had been with him in the wilderness for days. Once again we see the disciples ‘not’ getting the bigger picture of the Spirit. The Pharisees are also back…seeking from Him a sign from heaven, to test Him. Jesus warns the disciples (us) "Watch out! Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.” The disciples thought Jesus was scolding them for not taking enough bread with them…Why do you discuss the fact that you have no bread? Do you not yet see or understand? Do you have a hardened heart? "HAVING EYES, DO YOU NOT SEE? AND HAVING EARS, DO YOU NOT HEAR? And do you not remember…And He was saying to them, "Do you not yet understand? Jesus heals a blind man (this miracle took a couple of times). Peter confesses Jesus as the Christ. Jesus foretells of his death and resurrection and calls those who will follow Him to take up their cross and follow Him.

ACTION

  • Read: Mark 8 - Write down what the Spirit shows you.

  • Ask Holy Spirit to teach you of His acts and His ways.

  • Cry Out for God’s Presence to invade your life, church, city and this nation!

  • Wait in His Presence, get under the spout of heaven…

If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. "For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel's will save it. "For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul? "For what will a man give in exchange for his soul? "For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels. - Mark 8:34-38

Day 40 - Tarry Here UNTIL...

In the Days of Awakening!

In the timeline of the Feast of Weeks we are 10 days out from Shavuot or Pentecost.

Disciple's Born Again: In John 20, after Jesus’ resurrection He appeared to His disciples. Jesus breathed on them and said, “receive the Holy Spirit” this is when the disciples were born again and commissioned.

19 Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, "Peace be with you.” 20 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21 So Jesus said to them again, "Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” (John 20:19-20)

For 40 days: Jesus presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God. And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, "which," He said, "you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, (Acts 1:1-5a)

But you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now. (Acts 1:5b)

10 Days and Counting: Jesus said, Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarryuntil you are endued with power from on high.” Lk. 24:49

  • Tarry G2523 to make to sit down; to set, appoint, to confer a kingdom on one.

  • Power G1411 dunamis

    • strength power, ability

    • inherent power, power residing in a thing by virtue of its nature (Gen. 1:26-27)

    • power for performing miracles

    • moral power and excellence of soul

EXACTLY 10 DAYS LATERthey were endued with power!

Holy Spirit Given

  • Father Promised  (Lk 24:49; Acts 1:42:33)

Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear.

  • Holy Spirit Power

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. Acts. 1:8

    • Receive G2983 to take; to take with the hand, lay hold of, any person or thing in order to use it; to have offered to one.

    • Come G1904 to come upon, overtake, one

  • Baptize in Holy Spirit (Acts 1:5; 11:16)

At Pentecost: You shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.

Gentiles received Holy Spirit after Pentecost: And I remembered the word of the Lord, how He used to say, 'John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. Therefore if God gave to them the same gift as He gave to us also after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God's way?” When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, "Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life. (Acts 11:16-18)

    • Baptize: to dip repeatedly, to immerse, to submerge (of vessels sunk); to overwhelm.

  • Baptize w/ Holy Spirit and fire (Mt. 3:11; Lk. 3:16)

Popular New Testament Commentary says of Fire. ‘With’ is not to be supplied. Some refer this to the fire of judgment, as in Mat 3:12; but the close connection with what precedes, and the actual appearance of ‘fire’ on the day of Pentecost (Act 2:13), favor a reference to the powerful and purifying influences of the Holy Spirit (Isa 4:4; Jer 5:14; Mal 3:2). ‘In’ must not be pressed in either case, since the Holy Ghost is represented as poured out, and the fire on the day of Pentecost came down upon the disciples.

The Divine presence will in fact, as is recognized by Isaiah (Is 33:14; Is 31:9), be twofold in its working, according as it is yielded to or the reverse. It burns away sin out of the godly, and it consumes the ungodly if they cleave to their sin.

  • Holy Spirit Received by Faith (Gal. 3:2; miracles worked by Gal. 3:5; 14)

This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? So then, does He who provides you with the Spirit and works miracles among you, do it by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? (Gal 3:2,5 )in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. (Gal. 3:14)
Hebrides Revival Account

You Can’t Get Away From God

"Duncan Campbell, in his biography by Andrew Woolsey, describes the revival as "A community saturated with God." He goes on, "The presence of God was a universal, inescapable fact: at home, in the church and by the roadside. Many who visited Lewis during this time became vividly conscious of the spiritual atmosphere before they reached the island.”   - Quote from The Famous Hebrides Revival By Kathie Walters

Holy Spirit Workings in Mark

Chapter 7

Once again we see the religious leaders coming to where Jesus was ministering to find some fault with Him or the disciples. Well, of course they found fault this time having to do with ceremonial cleansing before eating (tradition). Jesus said to them, 6 Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: 'THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME.7'BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.'8 "Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men.” (vs. 6-8) Jesus said, its not what’s on the outside that defies us but what’s on the inside (our hearts) which proceeds out of us that can defile men. Jesus delivers the Syrophoenician women’s daughter; she answered and *said to Him, "Yes, Lord, but even the dogs under the table feed on the children's crumbs.” And He said to her, "Because of this answer go; the demon has gone out of your daughter.” (28-29) We also see in this chapter Jesus healing a deaf man.

  • Agree with Jesus’ prayer in John 17 for oneness / unity among the Body of Christ.

  • Wait in His Presence, get under the spout of heaven…Take the next 10 days and ‘tarry’ for a fresh baptize of the Holy Spirit.

They brought to Him one who was deaf and spoke with difficulty, and they implored Him to lay His hand on him…They were utterly astonished, saying, "He has done all things well; He makes even the deaf to hear and the mute to speak. (Mark 7: 32, 37)

Day 39 - Works of the Holy Spirit Pt. 6

Greetings Friends,

In the Days of Awakening

“As it was in the beginning” was the phrase on my lips first thing this morning. I was pretty sure it was a song but didn’t know which one, as it turns out, its What a Beautiful Name by Hillsong.

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earthThe Godhead: Father, Son and Holy SpiritAnd the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. (Gen. 1:1–2)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. (John 1:1-5)

Revival Quote: “Revival is not the discovery of some new truth. It's the rediscovery of the grand old truth of God's power in and through the Cross.”     - Sammy Tippit

Hebrides Revival Account

Startling things Taking Place Outside the Church

"As the preacher came out of the church the Holy Spirit swept in among the people in the road like a wind. They gripped each other in fear. In agony of soul they trembled; many wept and some fell to the ground under great conviction of sin. Several men were found laying by the side of the road in such distress that they could not even speak - yet they had not been anywhere near the church!

"So great was the supernatural moving of God that most of the homes did not escape the conviction of the Spirit, and the routine of business was stopped, that the islanders might seek the face of God like Nineveh of Bible Days. The town was changed, lives and homes transformed and even the fishing fleet, as it sailed out into the bay took with it a Precentor (musical director), to lead them in prayer and worship singing."

The Works of the Holy Spirit

The names and terms for the Holy Spirit relate to his power, activity and presence in the world.

To the World

  • Holy Spirit Testifies about Christ (John 15:26)

When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me

    • Testify: G3140 to be a witness, to bear witness, i.e. to affirm that one has seen or heard or experienced something, or that he knows it because taught by divine revelation or inspiration.

  • Holy Spirit Brings Glory to Christ (John 16:13-14)

13But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. 14 "He will glorify Me.

    • Glorify G1392 to render (or esteemglorious; full of (have) glory, honour, magnify.

  • Holy Spirit convicts the World of sin, righteousness and judgment (John 16:8-11)

8 "And He, when He (Holy Spirit) comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment; 9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you no longer see Me;11 and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

David Guzik’s Commentary says; He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment

a. Sin is the truth about man, righteousness is the truth about God, judgment is the inevitable combination of these two truths.

b. He will convict: Men cannot come to an understanding of sin, righteousness and judgment apart from the Holy Spirit. In its insanity, the world regarded Jesus as a sinner, itself as righteous, and it ended up pronouncing false judgment on Jesus Himself.

c. Because they do not believe in Me: It is unbelief, the rejection of Jesus, which proves one to be a sinner. “Christ is good and holy and pure; to reject him is to convict oneself of being opposed to goodness and holiness and purity and love.” (Erdman)

  • Holy Spirit Relates to and Reveals Christ (John 16:1-14)

To the World and to Us

13b He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hearsHe will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come…14 He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.15 All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.

The Holy Spirit’s ministry is revealing Jesus to us and the world. He has many different ways, and many different gifts He uses to accomplish this, but the purpose is always the same: to reveal Jesus.

Holy Spirit Workings in Mark

Chapter 6

This chapter begins with Jesus being rejected in His home town among His neighbors. Due to the peoples unbelief (or familiarity) to Jesus. Verse 5 says, He could do no miracle there except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. 6 And He wondered at their unbelief.  Jesus sent out the disciples, anointed them to cast out demons, heal the sick and preach the good news. Jesus feeds 5000, although He told his disciples to perform the miracle…"You give them something to eat.” We see the miracle of multiplication. Jesus walking on water…50 they all saw Him and were terrified. But immediately He spoke with them and said to them, "Take courage; it is I, do not be afraid.” 51 Then He got into the boat with them, and the wind stopped; and they were utterly astonished,52 for they had not gained any insight from the incident of the loaves, but their heart was hardened.[in fact their hearts had grown callous had become dull and had lost the power of understanding]. Jesus also went from village to village healing the sick.

ACTION

  • Read: Mark 6 - Write down what the Spirit shows you.

  • Ask Holy Spirit to teach you of His acts and His ways.

  • Cry Out for God’s Presence to invade your life, church, city and this nation!

  • Wait in His Presence, get under the spout of heaven…Go out, perform the works of the Holy Spirit.

54 Immediately the people recognized Him, 55 and ran about that whole country and began to carry here and there on their pallets those who were sick, to the place they heard He was. 56 Wherever He entered villages, or cities, or countryside, they were laying the sick in the market places, and imploring Him that they might just touch the fringe His garment. And as many as touched Him were made well. - Mark 6: 54-56

Day 38 - Works of the Holy Spirit Pt. 5

In the Days of Awakening

Revival Quote: “A revival may be expected when Christians have a spirit of prayer for a revival. That is, when they pray as if their hearts were set upon it. When Christians have the spirit of prayer for a revival. When they go about groaning out their hearts desire. When they have real travail of soul.”    - Charles Finney

Hebrides Revival Account  - The Power of Prayer

"Some of the most vivid outpouring came when Donald (young boy of 16) was asked to pray. In the police station one night in Barvas, he simply stood up, clasped his hands together and uttered one word - "Father." Everyone melted into tears as the presence of God filled the station. In Callenish, he prayed until the power of God laid hold of those who were dead in sins, transforming them into the living stones in the temple of God.” - Quote from The Famous Hebrides Revival By Kathie Walters

The Works of the Holy Spirit

The names and terms for the Holy Spirit relate to His power, activity and presence in the worldoften indicating the nature of His actions or the gifts which He conveys to believers.

Holy Spirit Carries or transports (I Ki 18:12; 2 Ki 2:16; hand of the Lord came upon Ez. 1:3. 3:14, 22; 8:1; 33:22; 37:1; 40:1; Lifted me up Ez. 3:12, 14; 8:3; 11:1, 24; 43:5; snatched Philip away - Acts 8:39-40; 2 Cor. 12:2; Rev. 1:10; 17:3; 21:10).

    • Carry H5375 to lift, in a great variety of applications, literally and figuratively, absolutely and relatively.

    • Snatched: G726 to seize (in various applications): - catch (away, up), pluck, pull, take (by force).

  • Physical Transportation: Spirit of the LORD will carry you where I do not know (I Ki 18:12)…perhaps the Spirit of the LORD has taken him up and cast him on some mountain or into some valley…Spirit lifted me up and took me away; Then I came to the exiles who lived beside the river Chebar at Tel-abib…the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away…But Philip was found at Azotus…he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. (Rev. 17:3)

  • Spiritual Transportation: The word of the LORD came expressly to Ezekiel, the hand of the LORD came upon him (Ez. 1:3)…I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago—whether in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows—such a one was caught up to the third heaven (2 Cor. 12:2)…I was in the Spirit (Rev.1:10)

Mysteries revealed by the Spirit (Eph. 3:5-11)

7 I was made a minister, according to the gift of God's grace which was given to me according to the working of His power… 9 to make all see what is the fellowship (partnership, participation, distribution) of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; 10 to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places,

    • Manifold G4182 of differing colors: from G4183 and G4164; much variegated, that is, multifarious: - many, much, large

Spirit Says to the Church… He who has an ear, let Him Hear (Rev. 2:7, 11, 17, 29; 3:6,13,22)

Jesus is speaking to the 7 Churches…His reviewing their works, telling them what’s rights, what they did to repent of after His assessment He says, He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

Spirit brings liberty (2 Cor 3:17)

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Normally when this scripture is taught it is being conveyed that we have ‘liberty’ meaning freedom to cut loose in the things of the Spirit (dance, gifts, flags, etc.) that truth can definitely be applied.

But in chapter 3 of 2 Corinthians Paul is contrasting the difference between the Old and New Covenants. In verse 17 He speaks of the liberty of the New Covenant. From the context of Ex 34:34, we see that when Paul says that the Lord is the Spirit, he is saying that the Holy Spirit is God, just as Jesus and the Father are.

Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. In the Old Testament when Moses went into God’s presence, the glory of the Lord would come upon him and his face world shined. So when he came out of God’s presence he wore a veil so the children of Israel couldn’t see God’s glory or its fading away. The Scripture says,  But to this day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their heart. (2 Cor. 3:15)

We have the Holy Spirit, who is the Lord. We can live in the Spirit’s presence (unveiled) because He is given to us under the New Covenant. So, just as Moses had the liberty to relate to God face to face we too have this same liberty because of the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Spirit gives rest (Is. 63:11-14)

11 Then His people remembered the days of old, of Moses. Where is He who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of His flock? Where is He who put His Holy Spirit in the midst of them. 12 Who caused His glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses, Who divided the waters before them to make for Himself an everlasting name, 13 Who led them through the depths? Like the horse in the wilderness, they did not stumble; 14 As the cattle which go down into the valley, The Spirit of the LORD gave them rest. So You led Your people, To make for Yourself a glorious name.

Spirit’s Sword is Word of God (Is. 49:2; Hos. 6:5;Eph. 6:17; Heb. 4:12)

And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God…For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

  • Rhema G4487 an utterance (individually, collectively or specifically)

  • Logos G3056 what someone has said; the sayings of God; decree - what is declared, a thought, declaration.

Worship in the Spirit (Jn. 4:24; Php. 3:2-3)

God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. (Jn. 4:24)  Php. 3: 2 Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the false circumcision; 3 For we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh

David Guzik Commentary says; God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth: Jesus establishes the basis for true worship: it is not of places and trappings, but in spirit and in truth.

i. To worship in spirit means you are concerned with the spiritual realities, not outward sacrifices, cleansings and trappings.

ii. To worship in truth means you worship according to the whole council of God’s word, especially in light of the New Testament revelation.

Holy Spirit in Mark

Workings of the Holy Spirit

Chapter 5  - The Holy Spirit isn’t mentioned directly in this chapter but we see Jesus casting out an unclean spirit, healing a woman who suffered with an issue of blood for twelve years and raising a twelve year old girl from the dead all of these are ‘works or manifestations’ of Holy Spirit's empowerment.

Day 37 - Works of the Holy Spirit Pt. 4

Happy Memorial Day,

In the Days of Awakening

We began week 6 with taking a deeper look at revival; what it means and how can we facilitate its arrival.

Today, we are going back to our study of Mark and the Works of the Holy Spirit.

Revival Quote: “All revival begins, and continues, in the prayer meeting. Some have also called prayer the "great fruit of revival." In times of revival, thousands may be found on their knees for hours, lifting up their heartfelt cries, with thanksgiving, to heaven.”   -  Henry Blackaby

Hebrides Revival Account

THE PRAYER OF FAITH

"Within 48 hours the drinking house, usually crowded with drinking men of the village, was closed. 14 young men who had been drinking there were gloriously converted. Those same men afterwards could be found three times a week with others down upon their knees before God, praying for their old associates and for the spread of revival. It was in this village that within 48 hours, many young people had surrendered their lives to Christ, and could also be found in the prayer meetings!

Among those converted the following night was a young boy of 16, named Donald. Donald became an outstanding prayer warrior and was asked often to pray in the meetings. One day Duncan Campbell found him in the barn with his Bible open. When interrupted he quietly said, 'Excuse me a little Mr. Campbell, I’m having an audience with the King."  - Quote from The Famous Hebrides Revival By Kathie Walters

The Works of the Holy Spirit

The names and terms for the Holy Spirit relate to his power, activity and presence in the worldoften indicating the nature of his actions or the gifts which he conveys to believers.

  • Washed, Justified & Sanctified by Holy Spirit (Rom. 15:16; I Cor. 6:11; I Pe. 1:2)

Ministry is sanctified: that I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the nations, ministering the gospel of God, so that the offering up of the nations might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

BelieversSuch were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God…Who are chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace be yours in the fullest measure.

  • Our bodies are the temple of Holy Spirit (I Cor. 16:19)

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

  • Joy of the Holy Spirit (I Th. 1:6)

You also became imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much tribulation with the joy of the Holy Spirit,

  • Renewing by the Holy Spirit, (Rom. 12:2; Tit. 3:4-5)

But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit(Titus 3:4-5)

Renewing G342 anakainōsis (Thayer) a renewal, renovation, complete change for the better.

  • Partakers of the Holy Spirit, (Heb 6:4)

For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit.

Partakers G3353 metochos (Thayer) sharing in, partaking; a partner (in a work, office, dignity).

  • Spirit is abiding in your midst (Hag. 2:5; Mt. 18:20; Acts 2:22)

According to the promise that I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt, so My Spirit stands and abides in the midst of you; fear not… For wherever two or three are gathered (drawn together as My followers) in (into) My name, there I AM in the midst of them. [Exo 3:14]

God the Father, the Son, and the Spirit are One so when one is with us they are all with us!

  • Word of God / Prophesy Came by Men Moved by Holy Spirit  (2 Pe. 1:18-21)

So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts. But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

Holy Spirit in Mark

Kingdom Parables and Kingdom Power

Chapter 4

There is no direct mention of the Holy Spirit in this chapter. But Jesus teaches parables under the anointing of the Spirit. In this chapter of Mark verses 26-29 a parable of the Seed growing is shared that doesn’t appear in any of gospel. Jesus said,  26 "The kingdom of God is like a man who scatters seeds on the ground. 27 He sleeps at night and is awake during the day. The seeds sprout and grow, although the man doesn't know how. 28 The ground produces grain by itself. First the green blade appears, then the head, then the head full of grain. 29 As soon as the grain is ready, he cuts it with a sickle, because harvest time has come.

This parable teaches the supernatural character of God’s Kingdom. Man is responsible for sowing the seed (kingdom message), but only God can produce the effects (harvest) of its truth.

We also see in this chapter Jesus’ authority given to Him by the Father and the Spirit to silence the wind and waves.

ACTION

  • Read: Mark 4 - Write down what the Spirit shows you.

  • Ask Holy Spirit to teach you of His acts and His ways.

  • Cry Out for God’s Presence to invade your life, church, city and this nation!

  • Wait in His Presence, get under the spout of heaven…go out, do good, heal those oppressed by the devil.

35 That evening, Jesus said to his disciples, "Let's cross to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd, they took Jesus along in a boat just as he was. Other boats were with him. 37 A violent windstorm came up. The waves were breaking into the boat so that it was quickly filling up. 38 But he was sleeping on a cushion in the back of the boat. So they woke him up and said to him, "Teacher, don't you care that we're going to die?” 39 Then he got up, ordered the wind to stop, and said to the sea, "Be still, absolutely still!" The wind stopped blowing, and the sea became very calm. 40 He asked them, "Why are you such cowards? Don't you have any faith yet?” 41 They were overcome with fear and asked each other, "Who is this man? Even the wind and the sea obey him!”  - Mark 4:35-41

Day 36 - Steps to Awakening / Revival!

Greetings,

15 days left until Pentecost, let's make every day count...Wait in His Presence! Cry out, Rend the Heavens O’ God and come down!

Today, begins week 6 of Rend the Heavens we will deviate from our study of Mark and the works of the Holy Spirit to take a deeper look at revival. On day 7 - Survival to Revival we read Psalms 85, now we are going to look more intently at this passage of scripture to glean 7 steps to revival.

In March my son, Josiah Webster taught a message entitled Every Heart, Every Home (Revival / Renewal/Restoration / Awakening). Truly this is what we are longing for ‘every heart and every home’ to be touched with God’s love and Presence.

One of the key things he shared was this diagram: Revival takes place when the Word, Spirit, and World collide. These come together when God’s people are empowered by the Spirit, embodied with the Word, and go out into the world to release God’s Kingdom message.

4 Historical keys to Revival

  • Unlikely people

  • Key Places (export what God gives you!)

  • Simple Theology: Jesus, Church, Gospel

  • Prayer; is our ultimate image bearing activity at the moment! - NT Wright

  • Along with these keys Holy Spirit said to me add the PRESENCE of God.

Simple Theology (Jesus is Lord - 3 words, Church in 16 words, Gospel in 30 words)

Jesus/life/discipleship in 3 word:Jesus Is Lord!

Church in 16 words - The people of God, gathered around Jesus, living by the Spirit and participating in God’s Reign.

Gospel in 30 words - Jesus is God with us, come to show us God's love, save us from sin, set up God's kingdom, and shut down religion, so we can share in God's life.

- Josiah Webster, Revival March 17th, 2019

ACTION - Read Psalms 85

When studying revival (s) Holy Spirit led me to this teaching from Psalms 85. Let’s join this church in the United Kingdom and cry out for revival to sweep our world.

7 Steps for Revival

Taken from Word of Life , Bible Studies, United Kingdom

As we study this Psalm let us pray that we may become deeply burdened for God to send a full-scale Holy Spirit revival in our land, and indeed throughout the world. What are the steps that lead to such a revival?

1. We must confess our NEED of Revival

The psalmist’s prayer was a confession of need; it was only when he felt the need that he prayed – verse 6. Think of the need for revival:

  1. In the outside world. Multitudes are without God and without hope in the world (Ephesians 2:12); most of them are outside the churches, and revival is the only key to this tragic situation.

  2. In the Church. Many churches are worldly, formal and lacking in spiritual power and vitality. Only revival can alter this state of affairs.

  3. In our own lives. How powerless we are! How frequently we fail, our testimony seems ineffective, and how little we pray! Revival is our personal need.

There will never be any revival until we are willing to admit our desperate need for it.

2. We must admit the POSSIBILITY of Revival.

Are we convinced that revival is possible? The psalmist was! Six times in verses 1-3 he reminded God of what He had done - “You showed… You restored“. And the fact that God has sent revival in the past demonstrates the possibility of revival coming again. Some people will not admit the possibility of revival coming in our day; for example, the ultra-dispensationalists, and all pessimistic, unbelieving, self-satisfied, worldly Christians will be slow to admit the possibility. But history, plus the promises of God, prove the possibility of revival.  Look up 2 Chronicles 7:14; Jeremiah 33:3; Malachi 3:10

3. We must recognize the SOURCE of Revival

Where does revival come from? Verse 6 tells us. “You…” - look up Psalm 62:11. It comes from God; it is not worked up but sent down, and therefore our eyes must not be upon men, methods, churches or denominations - but upon Him.

    • “When we look to man, we get what man can do; when we look to money, we get what money can do; when we look to organization, we get what organization can do; when we look to denominations, we get what denominations can do; but when we look to God, we get what God can do.”

Look up Psalm 62:5.

4. We must employ the MEANS for securing Revival.

What is the secret of revival? It is prayer – “Will you not…?” (verse 6) –  passionate, believing, urgent prayer. Has there ever been a revival that was not preceded by prayer?  Pentecost, the Moravian Revival, the 1859 Revival, the Welsh Revival, movements of the Spirit that are taking place in different parts of the world today…Look up 2 Chronicles 7:14 again.

5. We must provide the CHANNELS for Revival.

God is wanting to send revival, but He needs channels - “us” (verse 6) - believers, Christians; for - “Revival is the outflow of the Spirit of God through the regenerated spirit of man” (John 7:38-39). Thus, if revival is to come, you and I are to be ready to receive the full blessing of God and to be channels through whom that blessing can flow.

6. We must remove the OBSTACLES to Revival.

In verse 6 the psalmist prays for revival - “that your people may rejoice in you.” This indicates fellowship, walking with God, agreement with God (Amos 3:3) - being right with God. The greatest barrier to revival is sin. Are you right with God? Is there sin in your life? Are you living in disobedience to the Lord? Face up to this!

Many years ago D. L. Moody heard Henry Varley say, “The world has yet to see what God will do with one man who is fully surrendered to Him.” Moody said, “By God’s grace, I’ll be that man!” Will you be another? Will you begin now to pray the same prayer for your church, that the world may see what God can do?

7. We shall enjoy the RESULTS of Revival.

Read the rest of the psalm, and notice several results which are mentioned: salvation (7); peace (8); glory (9); harmony (10); increase (11); provision (12); Psalm 37:23! (13).

Revival Quote: A true revival means nothing less than a revolution, casting out the spirit of worldliness and selfishness, and making God and His love triumph in the heart and life.  - Andrew Murray

Day 35 - Works of the Holy Spirit Pt. 3

Shabbat Shalom,

It’s the 35th day of Rend the Heavens. We have come to the end of week five; 35 means establish strength, and hope; it combines the numbers 30 which symbolizes dedication to a particular task or calling. In Hebrew its lamed which represents teaching. And 5 which in Hebrew is Hay הא means "Surely!" or "See!" or "Behold!" Pictogram: Mouth / breath (indicating spirit or revelation). 5 also reveals the grace of God and represents the 5-fold ministry.

The Spirit of the Lord says, as you have set aside time to seek the face of God these last 35 days you have gain new strength and hope has arisen within your heart. Surely you shall see and behold My works, fresh revelation is unfolding and the breath of the Lord is moving you upward and onward to the fulfillment of your destiny.

Revival Quote: “Revival is a divinely initiated work in which God’s people pray, repent of their sin, and return to a holy, Spirit-filled, obedient, love-relationship with God.”     - Henry Blackaby

Hebrides Revival Account

The Prayer of Faith

"Here is a man praying the prayer of faith that heaven must answer. There are those in Arnol today who will verify the fact that while the brother prayed, the dishes on the dresser rattled as God turned loose His mighty power. Then wave after wave of divine power swept throughout the room. Simultaneously the Spirit of God swept through the village. People could not sleep and houses were lit all night. People walked the streets in great conviction; others knelt by their bedsides crying for pardon. As the men left the prayer meeting the preacher walked into a house for a glass of milk and found the lady of the house with seven others down upon their knees, crying out for God.”  - Quote from The Famous Hebrides Revival By Kathie Walters

The Works of the Holy Spirit

The names and terms for the Holy Spirit relate to his power, activity and presence in the worldoften indicating the nature of his actions or the gifts which he conveys to believers.

  • Holy Spirit foretells (Acts 1:16; Acts 11:28)

Men and brethren, this Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus…Then one of them, named Agabus, stood up and showed by the Spirit that there was going to be a great famine throughout all the world, which also happened in the days of Claudius Caesar.

  • Holy Spirit Can be spoken against (Mt. 12:32; Mk 3:29; Lk. 12:10)

Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.

  • Holy Spirit Retells (brings to remembrance) Prophesies ( Acts 2:14-35; 4:25-27)

…Who by the Holy Spirit, through the mouth of our father David Your servant, said, 'WHY DID THE GENTILES RAGE, AND THE PEOPLES DEVISE FUTILE THINGS? 'THE KINGS OF THE EARTH TOOK THEIR STAND, AND THE RULERS WERE GATHERED TOGETHER AGAINST THE LORD AND AGAINST HIS CHRIST.’

  • Holy Spirit is witness (Rom. 8:16; I Jn. 5:6, 8)

The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God…This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that bears witness, because the Spirit is truth..And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

  • Holy Spirit Pours Into Us the Love of God (Rom. 5:5)

Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for God's love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us.

  • Anointed by Holy Spirit (Lk. 4:18; Acts 10:38; 2 Cor. 1:21; I Jn. 2:20; 2:27)

But it is God Who confirms and makes us steadfast and establishes us [in joint fellowship] with you in Christ, and has consecrated and anointed us [enduing us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit] 2 Cor. 1:21

  • Power of Holy Spirit (Lk. 4:14; Rom. 15:13, 19; I Cor. 2:4; I Th. 1:5)

May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound and be overflowing (bubbling over) with hope….in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the Spirit…my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power…for our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction.

Holy Spirit in Mark

Chapter 3: 22-30

Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit

22 And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, "He has Beelzebub," and, "By the ruler of the demons He casts out demons.” 23 So He called them to Himself and said to them in parables: "How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan has risen up against himself, and is divided, he cannot stand, but has an end. 27 No one can enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. And then he will plunder his house. 28 "Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; 29 but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation”— 30 because they said, "He has an unclean spirit."

The scribes who came down from Jerusalem: This is an official delegation of experts from Jerusalem, coming to Galilee, to observe and assess the ministry of Jesus. The opinion of these scribes carried a lot of weight with many people. Actually, they accuse Jesus of being possessed by Satan. “He hath Beelzebub, implying that Beelzebub hath Him, using Him as his agent. The expression points to something more than an alliance [but] to possession, and than on a grand scale.” (Expositor’s). The Gospel of Luke (Lk 11:14) tells us this accusation came in response to a dramatic demonic deliverance. The religious leaders attributed this working of Jesus to Satan (Beelzebub). These religious leaders were in danger of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit because they looked at the perfectly good and wonderful work of God in Jesus, and officially pronounced it the evil of Satan. This points to a settled rejection of heart against Jesus - possible evidence of the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. - David Guzik Commentary on book of Mark

Before you read ask Holy Spirit to open your eyes to see and learn new things.

  • Ask Holy Spirit to teach you of His acts and His ways.

  • Cry Out for God’s Presence to invade your life, church, city and this nation!

  • Ask Holy Spirit to cause your eyes to be open to discern the times.

They were watching Him to see if He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him. He said to the man with the withered hand, "Get up and come forward!” And He said to them, "Is it lawful to do good or to do harm on the Sabbath, to save a life or to kill?" But they kept silent. - Mark 3:2-4

"You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. - Acts 10:38

Day 34 - Works of the Holy Spirit Pt. 2

Shabbat Shalom,

A Door has opened for us to learn of the Holy Spirit. It’s time for another great awakening in the land. Let us embrace the work of the Holy Spirit, for it is He who moves upon the hearts of men to pray and act on behalf of the Kingdom of God.

THE "HEBRIDES REVIVAL" -- WE WILL SEE THIS AGAIN!

Hebrides Revival Account

"The little band of prayer warriors made their way to the farmhouse to plead the promises of God. Just after midnight Duncan Campbell asked John, the local blacksmith, to pray. John rose to his feet with his cap in hand and prayed a prayer that will never be forgotten by those who were present.

In the middle of his prayer he stopped and raised his right hand to heaven and continued, 'Oh God, you made a promise to pour water on the dry ground, and Lord, its not happening.' He continues, but Lord, if I know anything about my own heart, I stand before you as an empty vessel, thirsting for thee and for a manifestation of Thy power.' He halted again and after a moment of tense silence cried, 'Oh God, your honor is at stake; and I now challenge you to fulfill your covenant engagement and do what you promised to do.”

- Quote from The Famous Hebrides Revival By Kathie Walters

Revival Quote: “There can be no revival apart from the Holy Ghost; He is the author of every Heaven-sent movement.” - James Alexander Stewart-Mackenzie

The Works of the Holy Spirit

The names and terms for the Holy Spirit relate to his power, activity and presence in the world, often indicating the nature of his actions or the gifts which he conveys to believers.

  • Holy Spirit prays for us and with us (Rom. 8:26-27)

In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

  • Holy Spirit directs / orchestrates ministry (Acts 8:29; 10:19; 13:2, 15:28, 16:6; I Cor. 12:11)

Then the Spirit said to Philip, "Go up and join this chariot…While Peter was reflecting on the vision, the Spirit said to him, "Behold, three men are looking for you…While they were ministering to the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them. For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us.

  • Holy Spirit Speaks (2 Sam. 23:2; I Ki. 22:24; Mt. 10:20; John 16:13; Acts 21:11; explicitly says I Tim. 4:1)

The Spirit of the LORD spoke by me, And His word was on my tongue…For it is not you who speak, but it is the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you…But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come…But the Spirit explicitly says.

  • Holy Spirit is Agent of dreams & vision (Joel 2:28-29; Acts 2:17-18)

It will come about after this That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and daughters will prophesy, Your old men will dream dreams, Your young men will see visions.Even on the male and female servants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.

  • Holy Spirit comes upon (I Chr. 12:18; 2 Chr. 15:1; Jdg. 3:10, 6:34, 11:29, 14:6;9; 15:14; I Sam. 1:16; 6:13; I Sam. 19:20, 23; Num. 24:2; Is. 59:21; Ez. 11:5 - fell upon; Lk. 2:25; Lk. 4:18; with power Acts 1:8)

Then the Spirit came upon Amasai…Simeon; was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him…The Spirit of the Lord is on Me; because of this He has anointed Me…you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. - I Chr. 12:18; Lk. 2:25; 4:18; Acts 1:8

  • Holy Spirit Impregnates (Mt. 1:18; Lk. 1:35)

Mary was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit…And the angel answered and said to her, The Holy Spirit shall come on you, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow you. Therefore also that Holy One which will be born of you shall be called Son of God.

The Holy Spirit impregnates us with God’s rhema words, He causes the Word to grow within us and brings to birth the dreams and visions of the Lord for our lives.

  • Holy Spirit is a Gift (Acts 2:38-39; Acts 10:45)

…you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all those afar off, as many as the Lord our God shall call…the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out on the nations also.

Holy Spirit in Mark

I have a personal conviction that one of Mark’s objectives in his gospel project was to present Jesus as the “Heavenly man of the Spirit.” Consider a few insights into Mark’s “spirit language” and see what you think. Mark’s Gospel contains twenty-two references to πνεῦμα  (pneuma) in eleven of sixteen chapters.  Chapter one alone contains the most (six) references to pneuma.  Of these twenty-two references, we may generally divide them into three categories. - Pneuma (spirit) In Mark’s Gospel, by Kenny Burchard, Nov 27, 2013

  • Spirit G4151pneuma (Thayer)

  1. the third person of the triune God, the Holy Spirit, coequal, coeternal with the Father and the Son.

  2. the rational spirit, the power by which the human being feels, thinks, decides

  3. used of demons, or evil spirits, who were conceived as inhabiting the bodies of men

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit….to another the distinguishing of spirits. I Cor. 12:4, 10

Chapter 2:8-12

Immediately Jesus, aware in His spirit that they were reasoning that way within themselves, said to them, "Why are you reasoning about these things in your hearts? "Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven'; or to say, 'Get up, and pick up your pallet and walk’? "But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"—He said to the paralytic, "I say to you, get up, pick up your pallet and go home.” And he got up and immediately picked up the pallet and went out in the sight of everyone, so that they were all amazed and were glorifying God, saying, "We have never seen anything like this."

And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins. - Mark 2:22

Day 33 - Works of the Holy Spirit Pt. 1

Come Along My Friends,

In the Day of Awakening!

Holy Spirit is calling you (us). He says, Come, learn of Me and you will see, hear and know things you have not known up till now

Jeremiah 33:3 Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, fenced in and hidden, which you do not know (do not distinguish and recognize, have knowledge of and understand).

Revival is an infusion of new spiritual life imparted by the Holy Spirit to existing parts of Christ's body. - Richard Lovelace

During Hebrides revival…"Outside, startling things were taking place. The Spirit of God was sweeping over the homes and area surrounding the village, and many people came under the convicting power of the Spirit. Fishermen out in their boats; men behind their looms; men at the pit bank; a merchant out in his truck; school teachers examining their papers were gripped by the power of God and by 10-0-clock the roads were streaming with people from every direction, making their way to the church.”  - Quote from The Famous Hebrides Revival By Kathie Walters

As I stated yesterday, the topic of the Holy Spirit is vast. Through my study of the Scriptures 159 references stood out to me. There were 9 different words used to describe the Spirit of God and almost 70 works performed by the Holy Spirit throughout the Bible.

The Works of the Holy Spirit

The names and terms for the Holy Spirit relate to his power, activity and presence in the worldoften indicating the nature of his actions or the gifts which he conveys to believers.

Here’s the first 7…

To the Believer:

  • He is our Helper - Counselor, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby (John 14:16, 26; 15:26; 16:7)

I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever. (Jn.14:16)

  • He indwells us (John 14:16-17; Rom. 8:9).

However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. (Rom. 8:9)

  • He seals us (Eph. 1:13-14)

In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory.

  • He teaches us (John 14:26; I Cor. 2:12-13)

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.(I Cor. 2:12-13)

  • He guides us into all truth (John 16:13).

But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.

  • He comforts us (John 16:7; Acts 9:31).

So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria enjoyed peace, being built up; and going on in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it continued to increase. (Acts 9:31)

  • He strengthens our inner man (Eph. 3:16)

That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man.

Holy Spirit in the book of Mark

Chapter 1:

1:8  I indeed baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."

1:10  And immediately, coming up from the water, He saw the heavens parting and the Spirit descending upon Him like a dove.

1:12  Immediately the Spirit drove Him into the wilderness.

Because Jesus was baptized and empowered by the Holy Spirit He was able to bring deliverance to this man.

1:23  Now there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit. And he cried out,

1:26  And when the unclean spirit had convulsed him and cried out with a loud voice, he came out of him.

Interesting note: the word immediately is used 42 times in the book of Mark, more than in all the rest of the New Testament. It denotes ‘continuous action.’ Mark is also the Gospel of vividness, graphic, striking phrases which occur to allow the reader to form a mental picture of the scene described.

Before you read ask Holy Spirit to open your eyes to see and learn new things.

ACTION

  • Read: Mark 2 Write down what the Spirit shows you.

  • Ask Holy Spirit to teach you of His acts and His ways.

  • Agree with Jesus’ prayer in John 17 for oneness / unity among the Body of Christ.

  • Wait in His Presence, get under the spout of heaven…go out and preach the gospel of the kingdom of God.

Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”     - Mark 1:14-15

Day 32 - Knowing Holy Spirit ~ In the Day of Awakening!

Dear Friends,

We can know 'intimately' the Holy Spirit, learn to walk in His ways and perform His acts.

Knowing Holy Spirit - In the Day of Awakening!

Some 70 years ago the Hebrides revival broke out, it was a powerful move of God. It was reported that the power of God moved from town to town and the presence of God fell upon whole communities. - Do It Again, Lord!

The Holy Spirit of God was / is the agent upon which all awakenings / reformations / renewals and revivals ordinate and are maintained. Therefore as Jesus so eloquently stated, it is expedient for us to come to know and walk in the Spirit.

Jesus said, we can know the Holy Spirit

John 14:15-17  If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.

  • Know G1097 ginōskō (Thayer): to learn to know, come to know, get a knowledge of perceive, feel; to understand; to become acquainted with, to know

The Scripture reveals that the Holy Spirit possesses the characteristics/attributes of personhood.

DID YOU KNOW?

• Romans 8:26-27 tells us that the Holy Spirit has a mind.

In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

  • Mind G5427 phronēma what one has in the mind, the thoughts and purposes

 • In Romans 15:30 love is ascribed to the Holy Spirit.

Now I urge you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God for me.

• According to Ephesians 4:30, the Holy Spirit can be grieved.

Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

  • Hebrews 10:29 the Holy Spirit can be insulted

How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?

  • Acts 5:3 Holy Spirit can be lied to

But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the price of the land?

  • Acts 7:51 Holy Spirit can be resisted

You men who are stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears are always resisting the Holy Spirit.

  • Matthew 12:31 Holy Spirit can be blasphemed

Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven.

The blasphemy against the Holy Spirit consisted of attributing the works of Christ to Satan when the Holy Spirit had testified to Christ's work as being from the Father.

These examples give evidence of the personality of the Holy Spirit. Certainly the fact that the Holy Spirit can be grieved, resisted, lied to, insulted and blasphemed give evidence to His personality.

DO IT AGAIN in our DAY!
Revivals begin with God's own people; the Holy Spirit touches their heart anew, and gives them new fervor and compassion, and zeal, new light and life, and when He has thus come to you, He next goes forth to the valley of dry bones... Oh, what responsibility this lays on the Church of God! If you grieve Him away from yourselves, or hinder His visit, then the poor perishing world suffers sorely!

Modeling Jesus

Over the next 16 days we will read the book of Mark. The subject of which is the Gospel Jesus Christ; a joyful account of the ministry, miracles, actions, and sufferings of Christ. Mark referred to Jesus as the Son of God but Jesus referred to himself at least 14 times as the ‘son of man’. All Jesus’ ministry, miracles, and actions performed during the 3 yrs after being baptized by John in the Jordan was entirely done through the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, it is to our advantage to learn the way of Jesus’ ministry empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Introduction to Mark from Darby Bible Commentary

The Gospel according to Mark has a character that differs in certain respects from all the others. Each Gospel, has its own character; each is occupied with the Person of the Lord in a different point of view: as a divine Person, the Son of God; as the Son of man; as the Son of David, the Messiah presented to the Jews, Emmanuel.

But Mark is occupied with none of these titles. It is the Servant we find here — and, in particular, His service as bearing the word — the active service of Christ in the gospel. The glory of His divine Person shews itself, it is true, in a remarkable manner through His service, and, as it were, in spite of Himself, so that He avoids its consequences.

But still service is the subject of the book…But that which distinguishes this Gospel is the character of service and of Servant that is attached to the life of Jesus — the work that He came to accomplish personally as living on the earth. On this account, the history of His birth is not found in Mark. It opens with the announcement of the beginning of the gospel. John the Baptist is the herald, the forerunner, of Him who brought this good news to man.

Before you read ask Holy Spirit to open your eyes to see and learn new things. Write down what you see, hear and learn in this chapter.

The Lord GOD has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back. - Isaiah 50:4-5 Jubilee Bible

Spirit Referred to as: the eternal Spirit, His Spirit, Holy Spirit, My Spirit, The Spirit of God, the Spirit of the Lord, Spirit of, the Spirit, and Your Spirit. - 9 different words used to describe the Spirit in NASB.

What we know so far:

  • Spirit was at creation, hovering, bringing forth life to the earth and mankind.

  • Spirit is a person, not a force.

  • Spirit is part of the Godhead.

The doctrine of the Holy Spirit is vast it has the following major divisions: Person of the Holy Spirit: The Personality of the Holy Spirit; The Deity of the Holy Spirit; The Titles of the Holy Spirit; The Types of the Holy Spirit, Work of the Holy Spirit and Eschatology of the Holy Spirit.

The KEY purpose in learning about the Spirit is for you (us) to embrace His fellowship.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all - 2 Corinthians 13:14

Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy. - Philippines 2:1

Fellowship denotes relationship, spending time together, becoming aquatinted with their character or attributes and wanting to honor them.
